God screwed up. Free will is a curse.
~ Satan's most iconic quote.

Satan is the main antagonist of the theological fantasy show, Touched By An Angel.

While the show usually focused on mortal problems and how the cast of angels would help said mortals with problems of faith, Satan was one of few supernatural entities in the show and by far the most evil and powerful of them all. Though as a prominent angel noted, Satan does depend quite a bit on his fearsome reputation and has no power over those who ask God directly for help.

In his human forms, he is portrayed by Thomas Dekker, Thomas Dekker, Mandy Patinkin, and the late David Ogden Stiers.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • in his very first appearance he exploited a man who had suffered an abusive childhood, seeking to turn him into the leader of a White Supremacist militia with hopes of causing a race-war, this could of resulted in many deaths and social unrest but was even more petty in that Satan's true goal was simply to steal Tim's gift of leadership (given to him by God) and corrupt it for his own goals.
  • Satan would cause Tess, a veteran angel, so much distress she temporarily fell from grace due to her disgust at his actions and how he turned Tim (who she had protected as a child) against her, ultimately Tess would return to her position and helped free Tim from Satan's influence.
  • Satan outright rejected God's love when Tess informed him that despite his horrific crimes God still cared for him, Satan mocked this and tried once again to get Tim back on his side, though was forced to flee when God was called upon to intervene.
  • Satan would return to orchestrate a murderous hate-crime so as to try and deny a future prophet of God named Matt from obtaining his calling, he empowered the two pawns of his game so that Matt became intimidated to testify against them in court and began to lose faith, again he would be defeated by the actions of the angels and Matt had God banish Satan from the town.
  • in his third outing Satan arguably goes well above his previous crimes in terms of sheer petty malevolence as he disguised himself as a child so as to torment a couple, trying to have the mother lose her unborn baby, he even transformed into a lion to scare her, causing her to fall off the stairs and almost lose her child, as the mother lay in pain Satan tried to convince her to give up her baby, however he is defeated once again as Monica arrives to rescue the mother, giving her the strength to cast Satan out.
  • in his fourth outing Satan orchestrated a terrorist bombing that killed many people, causing Monica to have a crisis of faith, Satan would gleefully take advantage of her vulnerable state and tried to convince Monica to denounce God (so she would turn human and become Satan's pawn) - however Monica would prove too strong of faith and once again defeated her eternal foe.
