~ Samukai suggest to Garmadon to activate the doomsday machine immediately. |
Samukai is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Lord Garmadon) of LEGO Ninjago: Destiny of Doom, a tie-in graphic novel to LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
He was the Skulkin General and the right-hand of Lord Garmadon when he was still trapped in the Underworld, being his direct enforcer. In the past, Samukai helped Garmadon build a doomsday machine that would destroy everything in Ninjago if Garmadon ever were to be defeated, mainly to spite Wu. Samukai would make some changes to the machine to make it more difficult to defeat and spread the pieces across Ninjago, waiting for the day Garmadon was defeated. Not too long after Garmadon's defeat and Samukai's death, the machine would begin to activate and it nearly destroyed Ninjago.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He does still have his actions from the Pilot Episodes of the series, including the following:
- He and his troops invade Ignacia in order to find the parchment that located the Golden Weapons.
- He attacks and nearly kills Kai, who only survives thanks to Wu saving him.
- He has Nya kidnapped and eventually has her hung over lava, nearly killing her.
- He eventually captures all of the Golden Weapons, which allows Lord Garmadon to escape from the Underworld.
- After gaining each of the four Golden Weapons, Samukai attempts to overthrow Garmadon in order to take back the Underworld and rule Ninjago for himself. However, this only leads to his own death since he could not handle the power of the weapons.
- In the past, he collaborated with Garmadon to build a doomsday machine that would activate should Garmadon ever be defeated, which would allow the entirety of Ninjago to be destroyed as the machine would rip apart the planet and let magma consume all.
- He suggests to Garmadon that they shouldn't wait for him to be defeated, but to immediately activate the machine to lay ruin to Ninjago, knowing it would give them a better chance at victory, showing how truly power-hungry Samukai was. While he does agree not to go ahead with it, Samukai backs off solely because he would rather not rule a world in ruin, not because of anything honorable.
- He would have the machine altered in some areas to make it more difficult to deactivate if anyone ever tried to stop it, boobytrapping the outside and rearranging the panels inside of the machine.
- Despite the entire fact that Samukai does only appear in a short flashback in the comic, Samukai's influence over the overall story is massive; he helped Garmadon build a machine that would end the world and scatter its pieces across Ninjago, and thanks to him boobytrapping the machine and resorting its insides, the machine became more difficult to deactivate.
- His loyalty to Garmadon is by no means genuine; Samukai only served Garmadon after he defeated him and took his place as the ruler of the Underworld, and while he would often follow his orders, Samukai would go against them many times. After gaining the Golden Weapons, Samukai would attempt to overthrow Garmadon, even if it did lead to his own death.
- Due to the comic taking place before Day of the Departed, Samukai is never reduced to comic relief like he is in the TV show.
Trivia[]
- His counterpart from the original animated series can't qualify as Pure Evil because he is much less heinous. Moreover, he is reduced to a comic relief in his final appearance in the Day of the Departed special.
