Sally, or also known as The Tet, is the main antagonist of the 2013 sci-fi action film Oblivion, and the main antagonist in Joseph Kosinski's unpublished graphic novel of the same name.
It is an Artificial Intelligence that's responsible for turning planet Earth into a wasteland. It first took the form of a NASA director, who originally assigned Jack Harper and Victoria Olsen to explore the Tet moments before abducting them. After that, Sally would proceed to destroy the moon and invade Earth to allow its unknown species to inhabit said planet.
It was portrayed by Melissa Leo.
What Makes It Pure Evil?[]
- It obliterated the Earth's moon, which caused natural disasters to spawn on Earth, killing the vast majority of humanity.
- It kick-started a war with the Scavengers, notably Scavs, and wrongfully blamed them for the invasion.
- It repeatedly cloned Jack Harper and Victoria "Vika" Olsen and sent thousands of them off to get rid of humanity's remains, alongside its own machines.
- It forcefully wiped out the clones' memories while claiming that they will travel to a new, inhabitable planet.
- It tried to persuade Jack 49 to bring Julia Harper, his progenitor’s wife to the Tet, presumably to clone her like it did to Jack and Victoria.
- It sent a horde of drones to the Scavs’ headquarters to stop their plans of destroying the Tet.
- When Jack brought resistance leader Malcolm Beech instead of Julia, it called two drones to annihilate both Jack and Malcolm moments before the latter destroyed the Tet.
Trivia[]
- Sally is the first villain coming from Joseph Kosinski’s filmography to be Pure Evil.
