Admiral Salen Kotch is the main antagonist of the 2016 video game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. He is the tyrannical military leader of the Settlement Defense Front, a group of off-world insurgents from Mars who are hell-bent on controlling the entire solar system and eradicating all of Earth culture. He is also the archenemy of the main protagonist, Captain Nick Reyes.
He was voiced by Kit Harrington in motion capture.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- His main goal, as well as SetDef's mission, is to take over the entire Solar System, enslave all enemy survivors and eradicate all Earth-based culture. He displays no guilt or any form of remorse for the countless atrocities he's committed and ordered, feeling that it will only make him a superior individual and leader unlike those such as Reyes.
- Throughout his military career, Kotch has led the SetDef to invading moons inhabited with Earth-born colonies, killing them and establishing full control while cutting off Earth's supplies.
- On Europa, he executes one of his own men to demonstrate how compassion is a weakness, showing that he has no care for his own troops and viewed them only as disposable pawns.
- Ordering the executions of three SCAR operatives after feigning sympathy, having them brutally beaten to death to save bullets.
- Having Commander Akeel Min Riah hijack Earth's defence system and turn it against the entire fleet so he could invade, killing all crew members onboard the ships and laying waste to Geneva.
- Invading Geneva and killing countless innocent people in the process.
- Upon arriving on Titan, Kotch ordered all S.A.T.O. forces to surrender for immediate executions.
- Leading Olympus Mons to knock the asteroid Vesta 3 off course and hijacking its base's robots to attack the scientists, all to lure either the Tigris or the Retribution to respond.
- This resulted in the death of Staff Sergeant Usef Omar and several civilian personnel due to Vesta 3 being pushed into the Sun.
- While the Retribution was distracted with supporting the survivors on Vesta 3, Kotch led the Olympus Mons to attack and destroy the Tigris, killing everyone onboard.
- After Riah destroyed Earth's defence system and killed himself, Kotch arrived and destroyed U.N.S.A.'s headquarters, killing everyone inside along with Admiral Raines.
- When the Olympus Mons was knocked out by an EMP and was boarded by Captain Reyes and his crew, Kotch attempted the detonate the supercarrier and destroy Geneva, which would've killed himself, his own crew, Reyes's crew and anyone else still in Geneva.
- Has proven to be a hypocrite; while he lives by his motto "death is no disgrace", he was unwilling to leave his bridge and confront Reyes, making the excuse that SetDef doesn't fight but instead attacks.
- In his final moments before his death, (if the player choses not kill him and instead lets him bleed out), Kotch boasts about how Reyes lacks the conviction to win the war and further taunts him about kill their Admiral and that Earth is now defenseless without their iron shield.
