~ Rose to the hypnotized Chris. |
Rose Armitage is the main antagonist of the 2017 horror movie Get Out. She is a cult member of the Order of the Coagula along with the Armitage Family.
She was portrayed by Allison Williams.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Under her family's orders, like her brother Jeremy, she abducted many African American men and women by forming relationships with and seducing them so Missy, her mother, could hypnotize them and Dean, her father, could transplant the brains of the Order of the Coagula's members to their bodies so they could use them as vessels to achieve pseudo-immortality. Two of his known victims were Walter and Georgina, who became the vessels for her grandparents Roman and Marianne.
- When she and Chris Washington, her boyfriend, run over a deer while on their way to her family's home, she doesn't express any remorse and is indifferent to the deer's death, unlike Chris.
- While it remains unknown as to whether or not she lured Chris' friend Andre Hayworth to her family, she was still an accessory to his kidnapping and let him be possessed by Logan King for the rest of his life.
- Allowed her family to capture Chris despite promising him that they would leave after Chris' suspicions that something was wrong.
- Offered Rod Williams, Chris' friend, to have sex with her so he would not take his phone recordings to the police, likely intending to kill or abduct him to tie up her only loose end.
- While Chris made his way out of the Armitage household and killed Dean, Missy, and Jeremy, she stayed in her bedroom searching for many potential new victims on the Internet.
- Took a rifle to shoot Chris dead so he would not alert the authorities and sent her grandfather after him.
- When going after Chris, Rose did not acknowledge the corpses of her parents or her brother and did not show grief when her grandparents died amidst carrying out her orders.
- Even after being mortally wounded, she still tried to grab the rifle to kill Chris and allowed him to strangle her so she could get excited.
- After she sees a cop car show up as Chris is strangling her, she begs for help to make him look like the dangerous one and get him arrested or even become a victim of police brutality (thus proving that she abuses the police's discriminatory treatment of people of color for her benefit), fortunately the cop car was driven by Chris' friend Rod.
Trivia[]
- Some viewers debate whether Rose's status as Pure Evil is genuine or not, given her mother's hypnotherapist abilities. This has sparked theories that maybe Rose was under mental control from her parents and was acting against her will. However, such theories have been debunked by her portrayer Allison Williams, who stated that none of the Armitages were hypnotized; director Jordan Peele also confirmed that Rose was willing to continue with her family's plans even after they had all been killed. By not caring even for her family, this proves that Rose is Pure Evil.
- In an alternate ending for the film, the car that pulls over to Chris as he's strangling Rose are of two policemen, who arrest him while Rose is supposedly taken to the hospital for her wounds. Had this ending been used instead, it would have made Rose much worse. Test audiences hated it so much that Jordan Peele changed it to give Chris a happier ending.
- Rose is in fact so vile and depraved that her real-life actress, Allison Williams, said in an interview that she had no empathy for her and wouldn't even vote herself for an MTV award.
