I searched for a mother too, an actress named Rina Reynolds, tried to find her my whole life! And four years ago, I actually tracked her down. Knocked at her door thinking she'd welcome me with open arms, but she had a new life and a new name! Maureen Prescott! You were the only child she claimed Sidney! She shut me out in the cold forever! Her own son... [unmasks himself] Roman Bridger, director. [uses voice changer] And brother. [turns voice changer off] She slammed the door in my face, Sid. She said that I was Rina’s child, and that Rina was dead. And then, it struck me: "What a good idea". So I watched her. I made a little home movie, a little family film. It seems Maureen, mom, she really got around. I mean, Cotton was one thing. Everybody knew about that, but Billy’s father, that was the key. Your boyfriend didn’t like seeing his daddy in my film too much, he didn’t like it at all. Once I supplied the motivation, all the kid needed was a few pointers: find a partner to sell out in case he gets caught, find someone to frame. It was like he was making a movie.
~ Roman revealing himself as the one that caused the original Woodsboro killings.

Roman Bridger is the main antagonist of the Scream slasher film series, serving as one of the two unseen overarching antagonists (alongside Nancy Loomis) of the 1996 film Scream, the main antagonist of its 2001 threequel Scream 3 and the posthumous overarching antagonist of its 2011 fourquel Scream 4.

He is a renowned and young Hollywood director who has made a name for himself in the film industry by directing the Stab film series, which adapt the real-life (in-universe) Ghostface killing spree targeting Sidney Prescott and her acquaintances over the town of Woodsboro. However, as several of the studio employees, Sidney and her friends eventually find out, Roman isn't as innocent as he seems and actually has some ties to Sidney's past.

What makes him Pure Evil?[]

  • Unlike the final version he's less driven by revenge and actually revels in being the villain of Sidney's life and his kills are more gruesome.
  • He opens up the film by gutting Christina and then stabbing Ben saying that he lost the role as Ghostface and to consider it his parting gift.
  • Calls Sidney Prescott and talks about "finishing what he started" after using Maureen's voice to tell her to turn the TV on and hear about the deaths of Ben and Christina.
  • He invites Sarah Darling into his office to have his accomplice Angelina kill her brutally.
  • Has Angelina play dead so he can slice Tom's arm open and strangle him before stabbing him in the heart.
  • Blows up Jennifer's house in attempting to kill her, Gale and Dewey.
  • Attacks Sidney alongside Angelina in the bathroom.
  • Slits Milton's throat open before dragging him into the elevator and gutting his body before hanging it in the ventilation duct.
  • Stabs Jennifer in the back.
  • Slits Kincaid's throat and stabs him in the heart before telling Gale that he needs her as bait for Sidney.
  • Calls Sidney and invites her to the STAB 3 set under the promise of revealing who killed her mother.
  • After chasing Sidney around the set he reveals himself as Sidney's half-brother and admits to orchestrating Billy's murder of Maureen and setting everything in place.
  • He mentions that he was dating his accomplice Angelina since they met in Woodsboro implying that she was still in high school, and describes how since Angelina plays Sidney in the movies he's technically doing his half-sister whenever doing Angelina.
  • After revealing the voicetape, he begins stabbing himself with the intent to frame Sidney for the murders and then chases her around the Macher house set until he gets stabbed in the heart by Dewey.
