~ Riff Tamson taunting Lee-Char about murdering Yos Kolina and his last words before he is killed by him. |
Riff Tamson is the main antagonist of the Mon Calamari arc of Season 4 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
He is a member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and served as a warlord in the Separatist Military and the commander of the Separatist forces stationed in Mon Calamari during the battle for the planet. There, he was secretly responsible for increasing tensions between the Quarren and the Mon Calamari, which resulted in a civil war between the two races. He is Prince Lee-Char's arch-nemesis.
He was voiced by Gary Anthony Williams, who also voiced Mongul in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Conspires with Count Dooku to destroy Mon Cala's alliance with the Republic and to bring the planet to the side of the Separatists, wanting to take control of the planet as its new ruler. His loyalty to Dooku is also for his own selfish reasons, as Dooku offered to help him get what he wanted, and he has done plenty of cruel acts independent of Dooku's orders.
- Kills the king of the Mon Calamari, Yos Kolina, to deepen the mistrust between the Mon Calamari and Quarren.
- Leads the attack against the Mon Calamari, resulting in the deaths of countless soldiers.
- During the attack, he barbarically kills several Mon Calamari using his claws and teeth.
- Attempts to kill Lee-Char by ripping him apart with his jaws.
- Threatened to kill Nossor Ri, his ally and the leader of the Quarren, if he disobeyed another order from Count Dooku.
- Follows through with Count Dooku's order to have the Mon Calamari prisoners be put into prison camps to work, including the women and children.
- Tries to have Lee-Char and his allies killed to be made an example out of, allowing them to approach their ship as a trap before blowing it up.
- Tortures both Anakin Skywalker and Kit Fisto using electric eels to force them to reveal the location of Prince Lee-Char, then later reveals that regardless of whether or not they knew, he'd still torture him just for the pleasure it gives him.
- Bites Padme Amidala's helmet to create a crack that slowly allowed water into her helmet, sadistically laughing afterwards.
- Declares himself as ruler of Mon Cala to Nossor Ri, callously usurping his position and laughing with delight.
- Even after having captured Lee-Char, he refuses to save Padmé and allows her to drown despite having no reason to.
- When the prince demands the Mon Calamari be freed, Tamson laughs and states they are his people now, deriding them as nothing more than slaves and demonstrating his racist and supremacist views.
- He shows no respect towards Nossor Ri or his people, calling them even more gutless than the Mon Calamari.
- While more lenient to his own Karkarodon men, he doesn't mourn or intend to avenge their deaths, showing he even views them as mere extensions of his will.
- Plans the public execution of Lee-Char in order to eliminate any hope for the people of Mon Cala and firmly establish himself as the planet's ruler.
- Kills several more Mon Calamari and a Gungan by stabbing them with exploding daggers.
- Mocks Lee Char for having killed his father without pity or mercy before attempting to kill the prince himself.
- While his death by being blown up by his own exploding daggers is considered one of the most graphic scenes in the franchise (since we see pieces of his remaining flesh, including his head), it is nevertheless treated as satisfaction for how brutal his own atrocities were as well as murdering the king’s father.
