Ricky Yao (Chinese: 姚瑞奇) is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Debt". He is the boss of a Snakehead chapter operating out of Manhattan who smuggles illegal immigrants into the country in order to trap them in debt slavery.
He was portrayed by Jack J. Yang.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Is the boss of a Chinease Snakehead trafficking syndicate which he uses to operate a human trafficking ring where Chinese immigrants are trafficked into America so that he can force them into debt slavery. He is responsible for trafficking 100 women per year and threatens them and their family members with death and has them beaten if they do not comply with his demands.
- Shown by how much bodies were found in the episode, it is safe to assume he has killed numerous people directly and by proxy. There is a whole room at the morgue dedicated to people killed on his orders.
- He has his accomplice, a corrupt lawyer, Roger Baker, pay for the bail of the immigrants at the immigration bureau before sending them back to him to be forced into slavery to pay of their debt.
- He forces his attractive female victims into sexual slavery at his brothels and forces the rest into hard labor at his sweatshops.
- He forces Ping Wu, a teenager into prostitution while forcing her mother, Jiao Wu to work at his sweatshop.
- He has Jiao murdered when she threatens to go to the police, indirectly leaving Jiao's daughters Hannah and Suzie for dead and with no one to take care of them.
- When Ping Wu's sister Li Mei goes looking for Ping and talks to the police, he has her brutally beaten and cut.
- When arrested, he acts smug and arrogant towards the detectives and threatens Ping Wu's life.
- He plots to have Ping Wu killed when he fears she could implicate him. Ping only survives because the NYPD rescue her just in time.
- He has no care towards any of his men as Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler mention that Ricky would have had one of the members, Tommy, murdered for getting arrested and destroying their organized crime operation.
