The Red Demon is one of the overarching antagonists of the Evil Dead franchise, serving as the main antagonist of "The Long Road Home" arc in the Army of Darkness comics.

A demon from ancient times, he is the author of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, making him responsible for the horrors that have been unleashed from the book throughout all of history.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?

• Created the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis in ancient times, giving rise to the Kandarian Demon and the Deadites.
• Upon his awakening in the present following Evil Ash's demise, he summons both an army and also the Four Horsemen (the Anti-Christ, War, Famine and Death) to fulfil the prophecy of bringing about "The End of Days".
• Had his army and the Horsemen capture hundreds, if not thousands, of slaves, before having their tongues cut out, their mouths sewn shut and their skin flayed to be used as new pages for his next book, the Necronomicon Ex Libris, with the slaves blood being used to write the pages.
• After finishing the Necronomicon Ex Libris, he allows the Horsemen to have their way with the remaining slaves, following which they set out to kill Ash to usher in the Dark Ones.
• Upon capturing two girls who previously encountered Ash and Shelia and sold them to Big Boss Man, he gives them to Famine, resulting in the Horseman killing both of them.
• Has his army and the Horsemen slaughter the civilians trapped outside the Cleveland Dawgs Stadium, before ordering the Horsemen to kill Ash.
• Uses a dying Ash's blood to finish the Necronomicon Ex Libris, allowing him to summon the Dark Ones and thus bring upon "The End of Days". Fortunately, this was averted when Shelia used Ash's blood to rewrite the pages and alter the timeline, in turn erasing the Red Demon and his army from history.
• Despite summoning the Four Horsemen to aid him, he has zero respect for them, as he threatened the Anti-Christ with removing her tongue solely because she expressed boredom.
• While the Evil Dead franchise has a particularly high heinous standard, the Red Demon manages to stand out due to him being responsible for writing the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, thus making him responsible for all the pain and suffering that Ash and his friends experience in the franchise.
