KILL THEM ALL! But keep the black kid alive.
~ Villard telling his henchmen (in French) to massacre everyone else in the colosseum to get to Frank.
First, I'm going to shoot your right knee. Then I'm gonna shoot the other one. You got that, homie? Until you tell me where my diamonds are.
~ Raymond threatening Frank to get back his diamonds.

Raymond Villard is the main antagonist of the 1997 action buddy-comedy film Money Talks.

He is a French crime lord who orchestrates a "Commando-style raid" on a prison bus in order to escape undetected, with the only other survivor being Frank Hatchett.

He was portrayed by Gérard Ismaël.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Villard was already a psychopathic crime lord who has a long rapsheet of crimes, including multiple murders across the world and a jewelry heist in London.
  • Upon being arrested, Villard has his mercenaries attack his transport unit bus on the bridge, blowing up most of the bus, and open fire on all the prisoners and police inside who are already on fire, killing them all, except Villard.
    • He only leaves Hatchett alive because he is handcuffed to him and doesn't have time to kill him and uncuff himself.
  • He and his right-hand man, Debray, plan to kill Hatchett by throwing him out over land. When Hatchett jumps out early and makes it to water, Villard and Debray open fire in an attempt to kill him.
  • His previous actions incriminate Hatchett, and later James Russell, and puts their lives in danger.
  • Later, Villard and Debray look for Hatchett and Russell after spotting them outside a club, in which Villard shoots an innocent store owner to death, which is framed on Hatchett and Russell again.
  • During the Auto Expo, Villard constantly makes vulgar & homicidal gestures threatening to kill Hatchett and his friend.
  • When Hatchett outbids him for a car that has his diamonds, Villard then has Debray chase Hatchett throught the streets in a public car chase that endangers many civilians.
  • Soon after, Villard abducts and tortures James Russell and threatens to kill him unless Hatchett returns the stolen gems to him.
  • When meeting Hatchett at their agreed meetup spot, and seeing there are tons of other gangsters there for the diamonds, Villard has his men open fire on them all, turning the meetup spot into a warzone.
  • When the police show up, Villard attempts to flee in his helicopter and leave his men to their own fates, showing he never cared for any of them.
    • While he seemed friendly and affable to Debray early on in the film, Villard shows no saddness over Debray's death and only cares for the diamonds.
  • While the film is a comedy, Villard has no comedic moments and is taken very seriously.

Trivia[]

  • Villard shares many similarities with another PE, Fouchet. They are both very wrathful French crime lords who have many people killed and are the heads of smuggling rings, as well as being the game-changing main antagonists of buddy action-comedies.
