Pure Evil Wiki
NOTE: This page is only for Ra's al Ghul's characterization in Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, considering the original comic counterpart was not voted Pure Evil. Therefore, only the film version's info and crimes should be listed here.

Once we obtain the cloud seeder, Gotham's own citizens will tear their city to the ground. And the world will follow.
~ Ra's al Ghul's plan to destroy humanity itself

Ra's al Ghul is one of the two main antagonists (along with the Shredder) of the 2019 direct-to-video animated crossover film Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

He is the pseudo-immortal leader of the League of Assassins, a partner of Shredder and the Foot Clan, using them as pawns for his plan to mutate all of humanity into feral beasts and have them slaughter each other for his own personal power. Unlike most versions of the character, this version of Ra's is devoid of any honor or care for the world, solely motivated by his own ego and god complex rather than any genuine desire to improve the world.

He was voiced by Cas Anvar.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Unlike nearly all the other incarnations of Ra's al Ghul, this version is devoid of any redeeming qualities. He is motivated by a lust for power and to create a new world in his image out of his ego rather than out of a genuine desire to save the world and improve it.
    • He also lacks the usual honor as well, not having the genuine respect for Batman he usually has, backstabbing his deal with the Penguin and only upholding his end of the bargain with the Joker out of the pragmatic reason to use him as a distraction for the heroes while he and the Shredder continue their plans. His deal with the Shredder was only because he could provide him the tools and equipment to build the machine, and he will go against Shredder's back frequently because he finds him incompetent.
  • He makes a deal with the Shredder to have him steal equipment to build a machine for him, using the ooze laced with Joker venom to create a highly dangerous toxin and intending to spread it all across Gotham, mutating all of Gotham's inhabitants into ravenous and feral copies of the Joker to have them all slaughter each other and destroy the city, before repeating the process in every last corner of the world and wiping nearly all of humanity and destroying most of the world to rebuild a new world order in his image.
    • It should also be noted that the Shredder personally tells him the process of mutation itself isn't just extremely painful and places the victim in a fate of intense suffering, but can even be fatal, which Ra's dismisses out of his intentions to lay waste to the world.
  • He sacrifices one of his soldiers to immense suffering and torture by having him volunteer for a demonstration of the ooze's effects, sadistically smirking at his pain, and when Shredder notes there is actually a chance in which he can actually die, Ra's coldly dismisses it with a smile on his face, saying that he has a legion and hundreds more like the suffering mook to go on and sacrifice.
  • Personally leads the charge against Arkham Asylum and has Shredder massacre most of the guards while he personally decapitates one and presumably kills the one in the camera room.
  • Betrays Penguin, refusing to pay him and having Shredder threaten him with death and have the Foot kill all his henchmen to intimidate him into leaving them alone without any money and continuing their plan.
  • Ra's al Ghul expressed disdain that Batman had sent "children" to fight him, as well as saying that another must die (possibly recalling Jason Todd) to show Batman what happens when children fight him, before he battled Donatello and Leonardo simultaneously.
  • During his fight with the heroes, he broke Donatello's arm and threw him off a catwalk, enraging Leonardo.
  • Ra's al Ghul was able to catch and break Leonardo's katana with his bare hands before throwing the young Turtle backwards.
  • He then starts bragging about how he trained for many years before Leonardo quickly defeated him.
  • After his defeat no one felt bad for him due to all the evil he caused.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only version of Ra's Al Ghul to be Pure Evil, as his other versions are normally tragic and well-intentioned to an extent.
