Quan Chi is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Shang Tsung) of the 2020 crossover fanfic Mortal Kombat Vs. The Owl House written by Ordeaux26. He was once the right-hand to the fallen Elder God Shinnok before betraying him. He was one of the many people mysteriously teleported to the Boiling Isles and formulates a plan to gain more and more power.
History[]
Quan Chi’s history is the same is mostly the same as the first 4 games (as the fic is set after the fourth game). He was once a powerful sorcerer and right-hand to the fallen Elder God Shinnok. He was also responsible for the massacre of the Shirai Ryu clan. The difference is that during Shinnok’s invasion of Earthrealm when he revealed to Scorpion he was responsible for his family and clan’s massacre. He banished Scorpion to the Netherrealm but instead of going along with him Quan Chi was able to get away and spent the next several years in hiding as Shinnok had also discovered his deception.
While he was in the Netherrealm for unknown reasons he along with everyone else was transported to the Boiling Isles.
Quan Chi tried to get out, but none of his portals were sending him back to the Netherrealm so he asked around to figure out how to get out. As so point he heard that Eda in the Owl House had a portal to Earthrealm. He went there with some Netherrealm demons he found to get it by force, but was unable to get past Hooty so he fled.
Quan Chi spent much of the fic hanging out around Hexiside having an encounter with Scorpion. However, once Willow Park showed up and revealed that Noob Saibot was in this realm he tried to get her to help him. When she refused Quan Chi instead tried to kill her and make her his undead minion. He succeeded in killing her and teamed back up with Noob, but was prevented from getting her as Raiden, Sonya, Jax and Cyrax showed up and forced him to flee.
Quan Chi after escaping encountered an Emperor’s coven member who accidentally let slip the emperor had a portal to Earthrealm. Quan Chi used Shinnok’s amulet to start torturing him for information, enjoying it while it was happening and killing him even after he gave him the information.
Quan Chi then enters the throne room and strikes up a deal with Shang Tsung they will work together to summon a massive Soulnado to absorb every soul in the realm and then split it 50/50. However, Quan Ch naturally plans to betray Shang Tsung and take every soul for himself and not only that he has an extra trick up his sleeve.
The two then begin their plan to create the soulnado. Quan Chi sends Noob Saibot after the heroes to kill them and when that fails, he goes to Sektor telling him to attack the Owl House and leave nobody alive. They also handle Raiden when he tries to stop them.
Liu Kang and Luz come to stop them, but by then it is too late Shang Tsung and Quan Chi end up fighting with them, but Shang Tsung gets a massive power boost from the Soulando which causes Quan Chi to flee. Though Shang Tsung ends up losing when the rest of the heroes show up as backup and Shang Tsung flees as well, leaving the Boiling Isles to be destroyed by the soulnado which, though luckily it ends up stopped.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- In the past, he massacred the entire Shirai Ryu clan to manipulate Scorpion to his side.
- Murders Willow Park when she refuses to join his side by snapping her neck.
- Tortured an Emperor's Coven member for information on the location of the portal to Earthrealm. He also took sadistic pleasure in the torture and continued to do it even after he got the information until the Coven member died a slow and painful death.
- Teams up with Shang Tsung and plans to summon a massive soulnado to steal every soul in the Demonrealm, Shang Tsung also fully intendeds to betray Quan Chi once their partnership is no longer useful and take every soul for himself.
- Orders Sektor to kill everyone in the Owl House so they can't get in their way.
- While he can act Affable but it is made pretty clear that it is nothing more than an act he is willing to use to manipulate. His friendship with Shang Tsung is little more than an opportunistic partnership and he plans to stab him in the back the first chance he gets.
