I'm disappointed. I brought you here for one purpose and you have failed me. You're as weak as your wife was. As your child. Yes, you fool. It wasn't Sub-Zero at all. I killed them. It was easy. I use sorcery to hide my identity to make the Lin-Kuei do as I wanted. You are strong, Scorpion, but not immortal. I think I'll leave you here just like I left your son to be eaten by the bird.
~ Quan Chi revealed the truth to Scorpion that he kill his family and clan.
My god will avenge me.
~ Quan Chi's final words before Scorpion kills him

Quan Chi is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Shang Tsung) of the movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge and serves as a posthumous antagonist in the 2021 direct-to-DVD animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.

He is a powerful necromancer, the right-hand sorcerer to the fallen Elder God Shinnok, and the ruler of the Netherrealm in Shinnok's absence.

Once Scorpion's master, Quan Chi becomes his archnemesis after it is revealed that he was responsible for the murder of Scorpion's family and clan.

He was voiced by Darin De Paul. He also voices Luxaar in Xenoblade Chronicles X, Valkorian in Star Wars: The Old Republic and Brainiac in Justice Society: World War II and Legion of Super-Heroes.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Although Quan Chi worships Shinnok as a god and appears loyal to him, this loyalty stems purely from fanaticism and shared sadism, rather than any genuine care for Shinnok as an individual.
  • Quan Chi orchestrated the massacre of the entire Shirai Ryu clan.
  • During this brutal massacre, Quan Chi threatens to kill Satoshi, a child, unless Hanzo surrenders. However, even after Hanzo complies, he murders Satoshi anyway.
    • He framed Sub-Zero for these atrocities, ultimately leading to Sub-Zero's death. As a result, Kuai Liang sought to kill Hanzo to avenge Bi-Han's death. Quan Chi's manipulations ensured that both Hanzo's and Kuai Liang's vendettas were tragically misdirected.
  • When Quan Chi assumed leadership of the Netherrealm, he maintained it as a horrible place where millions, possibly billions or even trillions, were tortured for all eternity.
  • He resurrected Hanzo and manipulated him into doing his bidding. When Hanzo failed, Quan Chi mocked him for being as weak as his wife and son, revealing himself as their true killer.
  • He tried to manipulate Scorpion into stealing Shinnok's necklace from Shang Tsung.
  • He attempts to betray and kill Shang Tsung by poisoning him in order to take over Earthrealm.
  • He mocked the deaths of Scorpion's family, for which he was responsible.
  • Before his demise, Quan Chi declared that his god, Shinnok, would avenge him. However, Shinnok felt no pity and quickly dismissed Quan Chi's death, regarding him only as a loyal servant.
