Trek, formerly known as the Supersonic Green Ranger and later the Psycho Green Ranger (or simply Psycho Green), is a major antagonist in the BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers comics.

He is a former member of the Supersonic Rangers before orchestrating their deaths in favor of becoming a servant of Dark Specter, later becoming the very first Psycho Ranger created. Trek betrayed his team out of spite, simply believing he was never respected enough and during a mission tasked by Dark Specter, attempted to retrieve the Green Power Coin for him to use until his confrontation with the 1969 Power Rangers.

Following his survival, Trek pursued to reassemble Dark Specter's Empire following his fall and proceeds to gather the Psycho Rangers as his "family", thus kidnapping Karone to be part of them.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • Despite claiming he was looked down upon by his entire team, the Supersonic Rangers, and shown to have insecurities of his self-esteem, as well as likely being manipulated by Dark Specter into becoming the first Psycho Ranger. None of them hold up as an excuse for several reasons:
    • Trek was always the one causing arguments and fights with Ace, the Supersonic Red Ranger and his leader, simply because he felt he was the "strongest" on the entire team and wanted to lead them his way, especially since he started these fights unprovoked. Already showing signs of his arrogance, to which Star pointed out in-universe.
    • There's not much evidence that the entire team talked badly about him and while Ace doesn't get along with Trek, he never concluded to hating him. Even if it were true, it doesn't excuse killing hundreds of innocent people who had nothing to do with his self-esteem issues.
    • Trek willingly went along with Dark Specter's deal and test of loyalty on his own volition. Even though he questioned his master's answers to him and later assumed he left him for dead after his survival, Trek continues to believe he is "blessed" rather than feeling tricked into Dark Specter's hands, especially if it meant gaining power to his favor.
    • His somewhat insecurities are more leaned on how he is "deserving" of everything than it is more him wanting to find genuine sentiment, to which his affection for the Psycho Rangers and Karone as "family" come off as toxic. Yet, he's done absolutely nothing to be deserving of such things but to take out his own shortcomings onto others or simply wish to watch them burn.
  • Although Dark Specter's process of turning him from his monster form to a Psycho Ranger explicitly removes his humanity in exchange of becoming a "creation of evil", it does not devoid him of his sense of morality despite his insanity. As he is capable of deducing Karone's empathetic and non-lethal influence to the Psycho Rangers, meaning he still knows right from wrong even after his current transformation.
  • While viewing the Psycho Rangers and Karone as his "family", his definition of it is that of toxicity and loyalty to only him.
    • Trek reprogrammed them simply to treat each other as family in hopes of returning any certain loyalty back to him, believing it is a "family" he deserves than merely wanting one, and isn't above mocking or dismissing their lives, willingly kill and reprogram them again and again until "perfected". Even when "heartbroken" that they are free of his control, his response was to snap their necks one by one, further proving his toxic view over them.
    • His treatment of Karone is no better, simply wanting her back as "Astronema" for his collection and took great sadism in seeing her beg once he attempts to kill Andros, her brother, out of spite. While concerned of seemingly killing her before confirming she's still alive, it's more of nearly losing the final piece of his "family" and that he won't be able to "fix" her if she died.
  • Despite the high heinous standards in BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers, Trek has fewer resources due to only having the Psycho Rangers at his aid and being one himself, as well personally having one of the highest Ranger kills (including his own team) for his tier alone.

Background[]

  • He orchestrated the deaths of the Supersonic Rangers, including Star (the Supersonic Pink Ranger), by faking a hostage situation and luring them into an empty building implanted with a Morph Bomb as a means to prove his newfound loyalty to Dark Specter.
    • Despite once having feelings for Star and grieved saying goodbye to her, he still went ahead of letting her die either way in the explosion and afterwards, he proceeds to mock and write her off alongside the other Supersonic Ranger as "self-righteous hypocrites", especially having to admit to Dark Specter that he never belonged with them. Showing his lack of remorse and earlier concerns for her.
  • He attempted to unleash Rita Repulsa from her imprisonment to retrieve the Green Power Coin on behalf of Dark Specter, which could've nearly resulted in her continuing her universal conquest of planetary takeover. However, he was shot down by the moon's defense cannon before he could proceed.
  • Killing half of the 1969 Power Rangers upon awakening, which he:
    • Crushed Jamie Gilmore (the '69 Black Ranger) with a boulder.
    • Destroyed the visor helmet of Daniel O'Hallaran (the '69 Pink Ranger), causing to suffocate while in space due to a lack of oxygen.
    • Consumed Nikolai Chukarin (the '69 Blue Ranger), which led to his initial sacrifice to stop him.

The Psycho Path[]

  • Discovering the Psycho Rangers, he honed their Data Cards and reprogrammed them for violence and conquest as part of his plan to restore Dark Specter's empire.
    • It has been made stated time to time that restoring the empire would culminate the potential casualties from thousands to millions of innocent people put at risk since Andros and T.J. pointed out that the Psycho Rangers are legitimate killing machines and as long as they're alive, they'll pose as a threat unless put a stop to. Something Trek is well-aware of.
    • He willingly makes it clear that he'll kill and reprogram them in a repetitive routine until he is satisfied of "perfecting" them into the "family" he is entitled to as long as he had the Data Cards with him, something Karone pointed out.
    • He often allowed the Psycho Rangers to train against each other and go violent without holding back, thus starting a toxic training routine to their mental being.
  • He launched an attack on KO-35, targeting a portion of its cities by having his spacecraft bombard buildings, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and presumably more.
  • Sicced the Psycho Rangers into attacking KO-35's soldiers, which would've furthered the casualties if not for Karone's intervention and turning herself in.
  • Attempted to reprogram Karone back into Astronema through a machine. While almost convinced by her "Astronema" facade, he still tempts to reprogram her despite her efforts, only to be drawn to a corner when Karone had the upper-hand on the ship.
  • He made plans on raiding Dark Specter's old facilities and weapon laboratories to gather as much arsenal as a means to restore the empire. It's made clear that it would've caused as much bloodshed and kill the guards through the Psycho Rangers if not for Karone's intervention and switching to making these raids into steal missions instead.
  • Ordered the Psycho Rangers to kill Nokrea, the Psycho Pink Ranger, when she recklessly endangered herself and reprogram her. This was stopped by Karone intervened and instead allowed her to recover from her injuries.
  • Attempted to have the Psycho Rangers kill the Space Rangers when Andros infiltrated his spacecraft, which later on he tries to stop Karone from reprogramming the Psycho Rangers and tries to shoot Andros, ignoring Karone's pleas and takes sadistic delight in her begging.

Trivia[]

  • Trek is the only Psycho Ranger to be Pure Evil, as the rest of the Psycho Rangers are merely cyborgs created to be the evil counterparts of the Space Rangers before they are retconned to be actual living people programmed through Astronema's cybernetic enhancements.
  • He, alongside Lord Drakkon, are the only two Pure Evils to be from the BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers comics.
