Art is suffering! I don't expect a man of your limited education to understand! Without darkness, there is no light! Don't you understand anything? She died so millions of others could experience truth through my art! To understand pain, it must be administered as well as felt.
~ Peter Dreyfuss.
Say hello to Leonora, motherfucker!
~ Franklin Clinton to Dreyfuss after killing him

Peter Dreyfuss is a minor antagonist of the 2013 video game Grand Theft Auto V, the fifteenth installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, serving as the main antagonist in the "Strangers and Freaks" optional mission "A Starlet in Vinewood".

He is a retired movie director who was known for his controversial movies, who were praised only after he retired. What the public doesn't know, however, is that Dreyfuss is the man responsible for the murder of Leonora Johnson, which was uncovered 38 years later by Franklin Clinton, who would later avenge her by murdering Dreyfuss himself.

He was voiced by Richard Hughes.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Befitting a GTA antagonist, he has comedic moments, but they only paint him in a negative light and don't detract from the seriousness of his crimes.
  • Despite the incredibly high Heinous Standards of the Grand Theft Auto HD Universe, Dreyfuss stands out with his low resources and screentime, paired with his personal villainy towards Leonora and her family with additional offscreen crimes, even competing with the likes of child serial killer/rapist Eddie Low.
  • He was accused of sexual harassment by many women who worked for him in his movies.
  • He and Richards Majestic Productions had David Richards pay two hookers in Mexico to stab each other.
  • He kidnapped Leonora Johnson, a promising young starlet he was offering to cast in one of his projects, before raping her and torturing her to death by cutting off her hands and feet and placing them in opposite areas, cutting off some of her face, leaving multiple wounds on her breasts, drawing a star on her back with a cigar, slicing off a portion of her thigh before writing "HAM" on it, and cutting off her head.
  • After Leonora died, Peter had sex with her corpse, making him a necrophile.
  • A news broadcast on the event revealed that multiple copycats were inspired by Peter's murder, meaning Peter inadvertently got dozens of girls killed by other serial killers.
  • Several industry figures and even some of Leonora's relatives were suspected for Leonora's murder.
  • He tormented Leonora's family for years by sending them letters and, on the anniversary of her murder, Leonora's severed lips.
  • He claimed in a letter to David Richards that he "had" to kill Leonora and torment her family for "artistic purposes" and that their pain will give him artistic inspiration.
    • Even though he said in the letter the murder "hurt him most", it's made clear multiple times throughout the game that he doesn't actually feel guilty about it.
  • In his confession letter, he talked about how he ate dogs, slept with young girls and tortured hitchhikers, implying that he has killed more than Leonora.
    • This also makes him a huge hypocrite as he accuses other celebrities of doing the same thing while he only does it for "artistic purposes".
  • Assuming he is the online user "hamstabber", he made creepy comments on the movie reviews and talked about his fetish over a girl in a wheelchair, showing how twisted he really is.
  • He is implied to have prejudice as upon meeting Franklin, a black man, he insulted him by assuming he's from the hood and has limited education.
    • He also tried to have sex with him, assuming he is a homosexual based on his demeaner.
  • As soon as he realized that Franklin found out he killed Leonora, he refused to show any remorse and lied to security about Franklin trying to rape him to get him kicked out, and then tried to bribe him to keep his mouth shut.
  • While fleeing from Franklin, he attempted to put the blame on Solomon Richards.
  • While he seemed to have at some point been friends with David Richards, even sharing the crime of the stabbing hookers, it’s fair to assume that they stopped being friends and ceased to care for each other before David's passing, given how David tore apart Peter's confession letter out of disgust for his actions.
    • Even in his confession letter, he said if David doesn't understand him, he'll be less of a man to him than he thought.
  • While he views his actions as necessary for "artistic" purposes, nothing indicates or suggests that he has moral agency issues and he shows awareness of his evil actions, taking great pride in them.
