You won't cry like him, will you? You're not afraid of death. You're like me.
~ Creedy to V after killing Adam Sutler.
DIE! DIE! DIE! WHY WON'T YOU DIE?! Why won't you die?
~ Creedy's villainous breakdown after attempting and failing to kill V.

Peter Creedy is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Adam Sutler) of the 2006 dystopian political action film V for Vendetta, based on the 1998 graphic novel of the same name.

He is the head of the secret police for the fascist Norsefire government, and as such, brutalizes and murders anyone who speaks out against the government or does not fit its racist, homophobic and ableist standards of "purity".

He was portrayed by the late Tim Pigott-Smith.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He allies himself with the fascist Norsefire government - not because he believes in fascism, but simply because he craves power and will get it at any cost.
  • He devises the idea to launch a biological terrorist attack on London and blame it on Muslim terrorists in order to seize power, an action which could have started a war.
  • He sees the plot through, killing thousands of people.
  • He profits monetarily off of the genocide by investing in the "miracle drug" that cures the plague brought on by the attack.
  • Once in power, he and his secret police kidnap, brutalize, and murder Jews, non-whites, LGBT people, people with disabilities, and Muslims as "enemies of the state".
  • He takes particular pleasure in "apprehending" people with as much brutality as possible.
  • He beats Gordon Dietrich to death for mocking the government, which he appears to enjoy.
  • He betrays High Chancellor Adam Sutler to V after Sutler denounces him (though he certainly deserved it), thus becoming the final villain.
  • He only agrees with V's offer to help him kill Sutler due his personal hatred toward him, and then immediately try to kill V once Sutler is dead, making this not only pragmatic but also doesn't make him On & Off.
  • Attempts to kill V before his death.

Trivia[]

  • Only Peter Creedy's film incarnation qualifies for Pure Evil status, since his version from the original graphic novel does try to give the Fingermen time off to attend Brian Etheridge's funeral until Chancellor Adam Susan stops him, suggesting that he cares for his men and respected Etheridge, who in turn, was the only member of Susan's inner circle who didn't appear to have any negative qualities.
  • Peter Creedy is, alongside Miguel Bain, Adam Sutler, Lewis Prothero, Lord Ozunu, Cypher Reagan and The Analyst, one of the seven Wachowskis villains to be Pure Evil.
