Perpetua is one of the overarching antagonists in the DC Universe mythos. She serves as the unseen overarching antagonist of Crisis on Infinite Earths, Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, and Dark Nights: Metal and the main antagonist of both the Year of the Villain saga and one of the two main antagonists of Dark Nights: Death Metal (alongside the Batman Who Laughs). She is a member of a god-like race called the Hands and was the creator of the DC Multiverse before it was altered by her children.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • She wanted to destroy the Judges of the Source and use the multiverse as her weapon for her own pleasure.
  • Created the Apex Predators to inhabit the multiverse and had them as soldiers against the Judges of the Source.
  • She influenced most of the evil in the multiverse through her whispers, such as her son, Mobius/Anti-Monitor, Darkseid, Parallax, Lex Luthor, and Barbatos, and took great pride in the fact that she was the ultimate evil in the multiverse.
  • Briefly killed the Justice League and took over Earth.
  • She created several realities where she empowered herself by keeping all the living beings in pure agony.
  • When she was released, she instigated a long and complex war that plunged the multiverse into anarchy.
  • Turned Lex Luthor into the herald of destruction known as Apex Lex, making him her right-hand man, before betraying him and replacing him with The Batman Who Laughs.
  • She managed to destroy several alternate universes that didn't match her dark ideology.
  • Intended to destroy the entire multiverse, with now only 8 universes out of the original 52 universes existing.
