Ladies and gentlemen, you know him as the founder of AmazoTech. The boy genius who, at 21, disrupted the way we interact with technology. A leader, a humanitarian, and your host. Put your hands together for... D-D-D-D-Dr. Ivo!
~ Ivo introducing himself.
That's right, folks. Our pal Superman is gonna help with our demonstration! You see, the Parasite 1.0 gives me strength, speed and durability equal to his! And if he tries to fight back, the suit absorbs that kinetic energy and redirects it! So the bigger they are, the harder you hit back! And while the Parasite runs off the energy it absorbs, for longer, sustained battery life, my portable Amazo Panic Room has your back! Available now.
~ Ivo explaining the Parasite 1.0's abilities while fighting Superman.
I told you, Superman. This ends, when I'M done!
~ Ivo to Superman.

Dr. Anthony Ivo, also known as Parasite is a major antagonist in the superhero cartoon series My Adventures with Superman.

He is a charismatic, yet corrupt and unstable scientist and the founder and CEO of AmazoTech. After beginning to lose favor in his company, he would attempt to regain control by selling his Parasite 1.0 armor, plotting to demonstrate its power by killing Superman. Following his defeat, he would be captured and recruited by Task Force X, using his scientific knowledge to aid them in their plans to eliminate Superman before eventually betraying them to pursue his own vendetta against the Man of Steel.

He is voiced by Jake Green.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General/Background[]

  • Before becoming a supervillain, he was a corrupt and narcissistic tech billionaire who often did shady business moves for profit, including land grabs that forced people from their homes, working relationships with organized crime families and illegal environmental pollution.
  • While nowhere near as heinous as Brainiac, whom destroyed Krypton and many planets, as well as using his past victims as holograms to train future warriors, Ivo has little to fewer resources than him but manages to do the absolute worst he has.
  • He was a terrible boss to his employees, threatening them if they displeased him and nearly killing one of them just to bait out Superman.
  • Constantly belittled his assistant Alex and even threatening to ruin his life, despite the latter's loyalty to him, making him responsible for corrupting Alex later in the series. He also stole the credit of creating the Parasite suit from Alex, who is the real creator.
  • He and Alex tortured the sentient alien machine Amazo to enhance the technology in Ivo's company, repetedly eletrocuting him and making him experience extreme pain.
  • Overall, he's an extremely petty man with a god-complex who's unwilling to accept his faults, abuses his power, blames other people for his self-destruction, and is willing to jeopardize countless lives all for a grudge which he started in the first place.

Season 1[]

  • When Curtis replies that the company's profit numbers are nonexistent and that whatever tech Ivo plans to debut won't change anything, Ivo forcefully grabs Curtis and explains that his newest product will solve all of their money problems and redefine humanity, ordering him to keep the board happy.
  • After Clark Kent approaches Ivo for an interview, and recognizing that he has come from Cat, Ivo enthusiastically accepts.
    • He agrees to give Clark the details he wants for Cat's article, and, as payment for forgetting anything he might have overheard from him and Curtis, offers to introduce him to the gala's finest bachelorettes. As they are looking towards them, Clark and Ivo notice Lois, whom Ivo insults.
      • This enrages Clark, who asks Ivo about his various corrupt activities. Ivo laughs this off and decides to escort Clark to the "press section", thus having his bodyguards throw him into a nearby alley.
  • A scientist was seen fleeing the hidden laboratory where Ivo was while crying, meaning that he must have done some to make her upset (perhaps he unfairly fired her).
  • Despite Alex's attempts to talk Ivo out of using the Parasite since it is a prototype along with reminding his boss of the dangerous side effects from their test groups, Ivo disregards this and rages about the board and his humiliation from Clark as he asserts that his new device will shut everyone up, and orders Alex to proceed.
  • He used the Parasite suit against Curtis just to lure Superman, and to prove his sales pitch was true, directly engages him in combat while trying to kill other guests at his event due to feeling like he deserves more.
    • Supes eventually realizes that attacking the Parasite armor just gives it more strength, so he refuses to fight back until its power runs out, and it starts feeding off Ivo himself. Supes manages to save Ivo from his own suit, and he's hospitalized.
      • During his battle against Superman, he called him a cheater due to his friends turning off the electric cage, but this is very hypocritical of him to say that because he was making the fight unfair.
      • Despite Supes saving Ivo, he blames him for his condition, and "ruining" his life. Even though he did this to himself.
      • His actions ultimately caused his company to be closed down and all of his employees to lose their jobs. This also causes Alex (his former assistant) to walk down a path of villainy.
  • While he did join Task Force X, it was just for him to get a chance to kill Superman as vengeance for the former defeating him, and even made weapons for them. He also shows no care for the rest of his teammates.
    • As he started to absorb Superman's energy, he ignored Sam’s orders to stand down, which forced the general to stun him.
  • After being freed from Task Force X by Livewire, he presumably killed the guards who tried to stop him and attacked a mentally broken Superman, which caused him and the other prisoners of Task Force X to escape their confinement.
  • After he escaped from Task Force X, he tried to destroy Metropolis draining it all of its power just to lure out Superman and kill him, which ended in his second defeat at the hands of Superman.
    • During his fight with Superman, he blames the Man of Steel for becoming a monster, even though it was his choice to become one. Even the latter calls him out on this, replying that he chose to be a monster.

Season 2[]

  • While he became a mindless feral animal because of the Parasite Armor, it was a laser-guided karma for all the horrible things he has done to many people. Nor is his fate played for sympathy.
  • After he was freed from his cell, he attempted to kill Amanda Waller (even if she deserved it), but he was stopped by his former assistant Alex, who started to work with Task Force X while he rebranded himself as Lex Luthor.

Trivia[]

  • So far, Parasite is one of two villains in My Adventures with Superman to be Pure Evil, alongside Brainiac.
  • He's so far the only incarnation of both Parasite and Professor Ivo to be Pure Evil.
