NOTE: This article is about the Funimation English dub version of Paragus, as his original Japanese version is not voted Pure Evil, thus only the information of the Funimation English dub version should be put here.

Broly, the legend. And now he is free. Broken from my control, from anyone's control. He has become what I was honored and afraid he would become. The true Super Saiyan, a killing machine. He won't stop now. Not until he has destroyed this planet and the next. Until we reach our new home world.
~ - Paragus, after Broly is unleashed.

Paragus is the secondary antagonist of Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan. He is the father of Broly and is responsible for most of his son's attrocities.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Though he had a tragedy of being shot and nearly killed by King Vegeta after he failed to convince him not to kill his son Broly, both of them were left to die and barely survived from Frieza's genocide against the Saiyans, this tragedy is later subverted by using his son's immense power to take over the universe.
  • As an former high-ranking warrior, it is heavily implied that he committed genocide on numerous planets along with the rest of the Saiyans as part of the Planet Trade Organization.
  • He mind controlled his own son later on to enslave a race of innocent aliens, murdered a henchman for no real reason, tried to conquer the universe using Broly, and most importantly, orchestrated the destruction of nearly a fourth of the universe by causing Broly go on a rampage at Southern Galaxy.
  • He enslaved countless Shamolians, including children, on Planet Shamo, working them non-stop and abusing anyone who stopped working.
  • He manipulated Vegeta into coming to Planet Shamio in an attempt to get him and all the Shamolians killed by a comet.
    • He showed to be double-faced towards Vegeta as seemingly playing nice and brown-nosing to him however in reality he laughed at his plan for Vegeta to die in a meteorite accident.
  • When one of his men expressed skepticism for his plan, Paragus personally murders him himself with an energy blast.
  • He unleashed Broly to attack and kill Goku, Vegeta, and their friends.
  • When trying to escape from the doomed planet, he doesn't feel remorse for Broly and confirms he only used him as a tool, unlike in the Japanese version, where Paragus showed remorse for leaving Broly to die.
  • While Dragon Ball has high heinous standard, he easily passes through it thanks to brainwashing his son and using him as a pawn, making him responsible of the events in the first Broly film.
  • Some may argue that he created the Power Controlling Rings for Broly to keep him in check for greater good. However, Paragus abused it and used it to control Broly's power at his wishes which defies this argument.
