Overmind is a minor antagonist in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, serving as the main antagonist of the Season 4 episode "Outlaw Armaggon". It is an AI created by the crew of a space station to help them in manufacturing VX3 warbots, however, it turned against them and seeks to end all organic life in the universe.
It was voiced by Jim Piddock.
What Makes It Pure Evil?[]
- After gaining sentience, it chose to view all organic life as inferior, and thus "obsolete".
- It then attempted to destroy the ones that created it, successfully killing most of them while the ones who managed to survive shut him down due to how dangerous he was. Their bodies were later discovered by the Turtles, April, Casey and Fugitoid when they entered the station.
- This also proves it has a moral agency as it was programmed to serve organic beings, but willingly turning against them. Not to mention that it's shown capable of acting kind towards others.
- It then attempted to destroy the ones that created it, successfully killing most of them while the ones who managed to survive shut him down due to how dangerous he was. Their bodies were later discovered by the Turtles, April, Casey and Fugitoid when they entered the station.
- When it was reactivated, it acts kind towards the people who reactivated it, until it secretly zaps Fugitoid, overriding his programing and brain and taking control over his body while he was aware of what's happening.
- Obeys Armaggon's orders to kill the Turtles with its warbots, but then betrays him by sending a warbot to kill him since he was organic.
- Planned on using Fugitoid's ship to move its army of Warbots across the universe and wipe out all organic life. With this, it has one of the most destructive plot in the series, tied up with Kraang Prime, Wyrm and Krang from the 1987 series.
- Attempted to forcibly roboticize the Turtles, April and Casey into its drones.
- When Fugitoid escapes its control thanks to April, it attempts to override his programming and take control of him again.
Trivia[]
- Overmind is the only Pure Evil villain from the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series to only appear in one episode and have no gender or sadistic tendencies due to being an AI.
- Overmind pays many homages to many AIs in pop culture, even 2 Pure Evil ones. Its icon resembles Ultron and its motivations and final appearance resembles Skynet.
