Oroku Hiroto is the main antagonist of the 2020-2022 Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin comic book miniseries, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz. He is the son of Karai and the grandson of the Shredder, who by 2040, rules New York City with an iron fist in an authoritarian rule, serving as the new leader of the Foot Clan. When he becomes aware that Michelangelo, the sole surviving Ninja Turtles, is still alive, he focuses on hunting him down to finally get rid of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Agreed with Splinter to reunite in Japan for "peace talks", but sent Ambassador Hara in his stead and ordered an ambush, which ended up in a battle between Clan Hamato and the Foot Clan with Splinter and Donatello dying thanks to Hiroto's archers.
  • Took over New York City with the Foot Clan and ruled it with an iron fist, separating the city into three districts and establishing the Foot Clan as its law enforcement.
  • Had Baxter Stockman supply him with his robots to keep all the New Yorkers in check, though he just tolerated Stockman for his usefulness.
  • Tasks Captain Ikusa and his men to capture and kill Mikey and broadcast his death through their robotic officers so all New Yorkers could see the Last Ronin's execution. He then threatened his newly-ascended Captain Fucuda to do the same with him if Fucuda failed him as well.
  • Has Captain Ikusa killed offscreen due to his failure to capture Mikey and then puts his decapitated head on a pike so it can be eaten by his crows.
  • Incites some Foot Clan members to fight him to death, threatening to kill them if they don't try. When one succeeds to strike him, Oroku congratulates him but then slashes the ninja's throat because "only he is the master" and asks the others to take the corpse away, rendering the session pointless.
  • Insults all New Yorkers by claiming that they deserve their existences to him, wishing to be seen as a god to them.
  • Ungratefully declines to help Baxter Stockman when the Last Ronin, Casey Marie Jones and the rebels attack his base on Roosevelt Island due to disliking his "craziness", leading to Stockman's death, even though Stockman previously assisted him in taking over the city.
  • Assaults some of his men for being unable to contact Baxter Stockman, refusing to hear their explanations, as Stockman had been killed by the Last Ronin and his rebels.
  • While he apparently cared for his mother due to storing Karai in a coffin, he later reveals to Mikey that he actually hated her and kept her alive there out of spite for abandoning him when he was a kid (in reality, she didn't abandon him but was left in a coma after she killed Rapahel), so she would be alone while he conquered. He then proceeds to kill his defenseless mother with his armor's blades.
    • Regardless his relationship with his grandfather the Shredder, it's not elaborated to detail (it's unclear if Hiroto got to meet his grandfather of if he was already dead when he was born), he mentions him during his adolescence to have an "honorable legacy". However, in the present, he states that he succeeded in what the Shredder failed and that he is now dead, suggesting that over the years he may have dropped any respect or admiration he had for his grandfather, assuming he once had any.
  • Viciously fights the Last Ronin and teases him over the deaths of his master, brothers and friends.
  • Before his defeat, in one last attempt to kill him, activates a defense mechanism in his suit to cause an explosion, which kills him and mortally injures Michelangelo, who dies later of his injuries.
  • While he wasn't raised by his mother when he was little, it wasn't because his mother didn't want to raise him, but because she was left in a coma. Even if it wasn't the case and he really was neglected as a child, it doesn't excuse any of the atrocities he committed.
