Optimus Prime is the overarching antagonist of the 2021 Transformers: Shattered Glass series, a reboot of the 2008 Fun Publications series of the same name.
He was formerly a senator known as Orion Pax who was initially close friends of the civil-rights activist, Megatron, until his insatiable lust for power was disclosed later on. Upon overthrowing the Senate, Orion rechristens himself as a Prime to wage war against the Decepticon resistance in hopes of overruling Cybertron and Earth. For all of his charisma, however, Orion's inability to see the values others have brought to his success is what eventually leads to Ultra Magnus overthrowing him.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Even when he was just Orion Pax, he was always a callous egotist who only saw everyone around him, even his soldiers, as merely a means to an end.
- He has the Wreckers massacre the entire Senate, leading to all of the Senators suffering brutal deaths as the Wreckers tear them apart.
- He reinstates the barbaric method of torture known as Empurata, which involves the victim's arms and head being painfully removed before being replaced with fingerless arms and a faceless head. Orion has this subjected to his former friend, Shockwave, to make an example and strip him of all empathy.
- Once it is clear Megatron refuses to allow him to continue repressing Cybertron's population, Orion rechristens himself as Optimus Prime and wages the devastating Great War. Countless lives were lost on both sides as a result of this war, and by the end, Cybertron was left a desolate wasteland with only three cities being the only places where civilization could thrive.
- He invades Earth and strip-mines it of its resources. By the time he was done, it was left as merely barren ruins.
- He gleefully beats Megatron to near death. Megatron survived it only thanks to mere luck, and upon seeing what Optimus' victory has brought, became a cynical and jaded shell.
- At the present days, he tries to ensure anyone who is not allied with the Autobots, be they Decepticons or neutral, be exterminated, planning to make use of the titan, Metroplex.
Trivia[]
- This is the only version of Optimus Prime to be Pure Evil, which is extremely ironic considering that the majority of Optimus Prime's versions are Pure Good.
