~ The Onimaro Leader attempts to electrocute the Onimaro trio to death for their perceived defiance against him trying to kill Touma. |
The Onimaro Leader is one of the main antagonists of the movie Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King.
As his name suggests, he is the leader of The Onimaro, who seeks to bring the return of Oniou Rasen. To this end, he corrupts Touma Tsukinami into their herald.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Seeks to spread the Onimaro Virus, which mutates humans by feeding on their darker emotions, turning them into homicidal, glutinous ogres, before eventually killing them.
- Hopes to do this to revive his master, Oniou Rasen, so the latter may destroy humanity and the human realm, possibly even the Yo-kai World too.
- Preys on the insecurities of Touma Tsukinami, a thirteen year old boy, to convince him to lead the Onimaro.
- Gifts Touma the Kigan Gear, a living device that allows him to command Onimaro but cannot be removed, knowing that if Touma isn't a wholly evil person it will try to crush his wrist and slowly kill him.
- Initially has Touma prove himself through a battle with a controlled thug, who attempts to beat Touma with a metal pipe.
- He encourages Touma to take over the police station, during which Touma seemingly kills a police officer by throwing them out of the window of a tall building.
- Has Touma take over the airport, with the intention of going global, spreading the Onimaro across the planet.
- When the pain caused by the Kigan Gear grows too great, he recognizes this as a sign Touma is really a good person, so decides to electrocute him, a thirteen year old boy, to death.
- When the Onimaro trio attempt to save Touma by offering to kill him for their Leader, he crushes the three together and shocks them instead, displaying his lack of care for even his own kind, prompting Touma to try to save them
- The Leader then taunts a wounded Touma over his belief that trio genuinely cared for him.
- Abandons the four when Natsume and her friends arrive, despite some of them having made it clear they were very willing to kill Touma if it meant stopping the Onimaro.
- Continues the campaign without Touma and the airport access, doing everything in his power to ensure Rasen's revival.
- While most members of the Onimaro are evil beings that exist only to act as parasites, Ogu, Togu and Mogu show they have moral agency and can grow to care for people to the point of sacrificing their own lives. The Leader is also shown to be far more developed, intelligent and human compared to his cohorts, to the point of barely resembling the species, and thus presumably has a similar capacity for good.
- When Rasen forcefully absorbs the Onimaro, he is the only one not showing a desire to resist the process, seemingly flying with the pull than against it. However, not enough is revealed about the process, his thoughts, or his relationship with his master to imply any care or loyalty for him. His general personality seems to indicate this moment was more out of fanaticism and a desire to see humanity eradicated through Rasen.
Trivia[]
- It's never stated how long the Onimaro Leader was in charge of them for, however, if he was always a herald for Rasen, this would make him even worse as he would have been spreading the virus and attempting a genocide of the human race for thousands of years.
