“ | The leaders were weak. They restrained me once and lost the empire. Now they've brought me back, a living weapon they once had grown to fear. The empire shall live; they shall not. | „ |

“ | You wish my terms? You, who would offer a living weapon something as pitiful as his humanity? I have programmed the missiles, one direct at each of the world's 15 largest cities. And what I want, colonel, is to watch them burn. | „ |

Arkady Rossovich, better known as Omega Red, is the main antagonist of the episodes "Red Dawn" and "A Deal with the Devil" in X-Men: The Animated Series, and briefly appears in a flashback during the episode "Weapon X, Lies & Videotape".
He is a Russian soldier and the end result of an experiment by the Soviet Union, being one of Wolverine's archenemies alongside Sabretooth.
He was voiced by the late Len Doncheff.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He leads blitzkriegs upon Moscow, presumably killing many innocent people (if Darkstar's "those who survive have fled" line is any indication) while driving the rest away from their homes. Any found survivors were put in a concentration camp.
- After the X-Men rescue the camp's prisoners, Red orders his army to find and kill them all. Thankfully, Darkstar arrives just in time to save them.
- He tries to assassinate the Russian Parliament leaders rather than simply exiling them as he was ordered to by his liberators.
- He takes Illyana Rasputin, Colossus' child sister, hostage and drains her lifeforce with a sadistic smile on his face, threatening to kill her if he doesn't surrender.
- He infiltrates a fallen submarine and tries to use its warhead missiles to start a nuclear war by destroying the world's 15 largest cities, planning to rule over the ashes.
- When the X-Men and U.S. military initially manage to at least halt this plan by shooting down five of the missiles from their jets, Red then states his intent to use his remaining warheads to "simply" target Hawaii in a fit of anger.
- Despite being a two-shot villain, he's still by far one of the most depraved and heinous villains in the entire show due to having less resources than Apocalypse or D'Ken while also representing how insanely power-hungry the Soviet Union was in real life.
Trivia[]
- Excluding his comic counterpart, this is the only version of Omega Red to be Pure Evil.
- While Omega Red is currently Pure Evil, there's a chance that this may change if he returns in X-Men '97, an upcoming X-Men: The Animated Series revival in development for Disney+.
