“ | What he does with our products is none of our business. What is my business is keeping our family ahead of the rest. You're welcome, everyone! (Alador gets mad) Ugh, there you go, making that face. This is why I don't tell you things. With the Emperor's favor, we'll live like royalty in the new world, crowns and everything! | „ |

“ | I told you before, Collector, I could be much more use to you than being a... "Mamadalia". Maybe we can talk about... remaking the Boiling Isles into something bigger and better! | „ |

Odalia Blight is a major antagonist in the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House, serving as a flashback antagonist in Season 1, a major antagonist in Season 2 and a supporting character in Season 3.
She is the matriarch of prestigious Blight Family and CEO of the Blight Industries company that sells abomination-based weaponry. While originally being just an abusive mother and snobbish businesswoman, she turned out to be much worse, as she was revealed to be aware of Emperor Belos' genocidal intentions and willingly assisted him in it. She is also the arch-nemesis of her youngest daughter, Amity.
She was voiced by Rachael MacFarlane.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- She is extremely unfit to be a family woman, using them as tools for her own personal gain like dictating her husband's every move and abusing her children to follow her expectations, as well as prioritizing status and profit over care for her family.
- Additionally, due to her abuse on her family and of their actions such turning Amity into a snobby self-centered bully and the twins acting out mischief and troublemaking, she is responsible for making others miserable by proxy due to her influence, neglect of her kids, regardless of the consequences that don't affect her or her image, only caring about maintaining her family's high status.
- Though she attempted to justify her actions as being what's best for her family, it's made clear that she only cares about keeping her family, though mainly herself, ahead of everyone else with no regard for their well-being, making her "care" more of a self-serving delusion rather than anything genuinely well-intentioned.
- In spite of claiming that Blights always uphold their end of the deal, she is perfectly willing to go back on her word if it benefits her, with her only using the motto to keep her image and to control her family.
- Even though it's implied that she used to have redeeming qualities, as she was shown getting along with Alador and Darius when they were young, she later subverted all of them after she grown into an adult and became manipulative and abusive to her family.
- Despite the high Heinous Standard, she stands out since Emperor Belos used her Abomatons to trap the witches and demons attending within the ritual site to keep them from escaping the Draining Spell, meaning she played a very important role in the Draining Spell operation meant to kill all of witchkind.
Background[]
- Even when she was young, she was callous and apathetic to seeing Eda getting transformed into an Owl Beast and being cast out by others during the Coven's tryouts, proving she was already sociopathic before she grew up.
- She made a living selling abomination-based weaponry to the elites of the Boiling Isles while openly telling people how lethal they are, and forced Alador to work nonstop on the weaponry for five years by threatening to force their children to do the work instead if he refused.
- She even forced Alador to work while he was sick with the fire flu, fired half of his team, and expected them to continue working at the same speed as before, resulting in him being unable to spend time with his children or intervene in Odalia's abuse, while also naively thinking that joining the Emperor's Coven was Amity's dream because of this.
- When Amity was only five, she threatened to get her best friend, Willow Park, expelled from Hexside if she won't stop being friends with her, just to control her more and maintain her own social status, before molding Amity into becoming a bully that looks down on others.
Season 2[]
- She used her status to get Luz, Willow and Gus expelled from Hexside just because they were influencing Amity away from Odalia's desires.
- After Luz told her that she can still be friends with Amity, Odalia tricked her into being cannon fodder for Blight Industries' new products before outright trying to get her killed during the demonstration of Abomatron 2.0, despite Luz and Alador pointing out it was already proven to be strong.
- Although she agreed to return Luz, Willow and Gus back to Hexside, it was because Alador convinced her that this will make Amity strong enough to be the Coven Head rather than honor, especially since she intended to go back on the deal before being convinced to back down by vowing to call every authority she knew to make sure they couldn't go back to school, purely out of spite.
- She sold many Abomatons to the Emperor's Coven, and unlike everyone else except Kikimora, she was aware that the Day of Unity is a front for the massive Draining Spell that Emperor Belos plans to cast to kill all witches and demons with the Coven sigils, but didn't care at all that her own kind would perish as long as she would be rewarded, unaware that this was a lie from Emperor Belos and she'd die with everyone else anyway.
- While she planned to include her family as those that will be uplifted after the Day of Unity, this isn't a redeeming quality, because she repeatedly demonstrated otherwise how she doesn't care about them or their desires and only sees them as an extension of herself. She even snitches on Alador for stealing an airship, nearly killing them.
- While she had no problems with her Amity being a lesbian, this isn't a mitigating factor since homophobia doesn't exist on the Boiling Isles, and thus Odalia had no reason to be against her daughter's orientation.
- When Alador told her the truth about the Day of Unity, she revealed that she knew all along and admitted that she hid the true purpose of the Day of Unity just to keep her family under her control, leading Alador to turn against her and for her to attack him and likely try to kill him.
- After she was defeated and he told her he quit, she said that she had been meaning to find a more competent "business partner" anyway, showing she didn't care about their marriage.
- She snitched on Alador and the others when they stole an airship out of spite for her family turning against her, almost getting him and her youngest daughter Amity killed as result.
Season 3[]
- After the Day of Unity, she became the Collector's maid solely to avoid being turned into a puppet and kept trying to convince him to remake the Boiling Isles into something "bigger and better", only to be completely ignored.
- While her punishment is somewhat comedic, this punishment does not detract from Odalia's heinousness and is played for karma, showing how pathetic she had become.
- The fact that Alador was seen reuniting with Amity in the Archives shows that he was puppetized by the Collector, meaning Odalia presumably allowed her ex-husband to be trapped in a fate worse than death and made no visible effort to save him from his captivity, as judged by a frown look on her face.
Trivia[]
- While she is Pure Evil, her daughter is Pure Good and her ex-husband is Near Pure Good.
- According to the draft of the episode "Watching and Dreaming", she was going to have a bigger role. It is unknown how her condition would have been affected. Because on the storyboard it was together to the heroes watching the restoration of the Boiling Islands It is unknown whether or not she was destined to redeem herself Finally as she was excluded from the main plot of the finale and She was last seen with an unfriendly face in front of her family. A, implies that she did not redeem herself in the final version of the episode .
