“ | You see?! My old enemy gets to relieve my greatest achievement forever. Isn't it breathtaking? | „ |
~ Norman explaining his torture of Spider-Man by reliving Gwen Stacy's death. |
“ | I might become bored but never sentimental. Power is all that I hunger for. Pure and simple. I'm not like you, Thanos. I don't have a secret desire to lose. | „ |
~ Norman battling the Mad Titan, Thanos. |
Norman Virgil Osborn, better known as The Green Goblin, is the main protagonist of What If? Infinity - Dark Reign. In this alternate universe, Norman has stolen the Infinity Stones from The Avengers and uses them to make his own Infinity Gauntlet to remake reality however he sees fit.
This version of him was created by Joshua Williamson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Prior to the events of the story, he and his Dark Avengers meticulously killed all of Earth's heroes one by one so nobody would stand in their way. Only Spider-Man was spared so that Osborn could torture him forever by making him relive Gwen Stacy's death, which Osborn caused in the first place (just like in Earth-616).
- There's not even a guarantee that all of this became undone after he was erased from existence at the end of the comic.
- He killed Sentry for becoming increasingly unstable.
- He used a fully-powered Infinity Gauntlet to turn the whole world into his own totalitarian rule by brainwashing humanity into worshipping him.
- He kills Thanos after he killed the Dark Avengers, while also not actually caring about their deaths, since Osborn says it himself that he's never sentimental.
- While he initially seems insecure, seeking love from his abusive father Ambrose, said insecurities turn out to be just narcissism as he gains that love through sheer force by brainwashing him with the Infinity Gauntlet and then later killing him with blind fury while stating that he only wants love for his accomplishments rather than "because you're my son". Although Norman regretted this action afterwards, it was only because killing a version of his father from the past resulted in him being wiped from existence as well.
