Ninetails is a malicious, nine-tailed kitsune and one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Orochi) of Ōkami.
She is one of the demons that hid above the Ark of Yamato and serves Yami in his conquest to take over all of Nippon. While awaiting Yami's return, Ninetails is promised the be made ruler of Ryoshima Coast, leading to her attempting to wipe out anyone who resides there, such as citizens of Sei'an City or even the entire Dragonian race.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Due to her originally being a demon on the Ark of Yamato, she took part in the genocide of the Celestials.
- Having been promised Ryoshima Coast, she attacks the Dragonian race for having inhabited the ocean near Ryoshima Coast and attempts to wipe them out.
- She is stopped from killing the Dragonians by King Wada, who transforms into a water dragon and swallows the Fox Rods, the artifact which gives Ninetails power, and while it does leave her weakened, having consumed the Fox Rods drives him insane and causes him to begin attacking those who go in the waters near Ryoshima Coast.
- Weakened without the Fox Rods, she murders the priestess Rao and takes her form in order to gain the trust of those in Sei'an city and get close to Queen Himiko.
- She orders the demonic virus Blight to infect the Emperor of Sei'an City, which spreads a toxic fog across the city and causes a massive famine.
- While Amaterasu manages to vanquish Blight, Ninetails gains the trust of Amaterasu using the disguise of Rao, lying and claiming that the Fox Rods are a powerful artifact that can help to vanquish demons. Ninetails sends Amaterasu to a sunken ship off of Ryoshima Coast, with this being a ruse to lure Amaterasu far enough into the water so they will be killed by the insane King Wada.
- Following Amaterasu surviving King Wada's attack, Ninetails realizes that Amaterasu may be able to retrieve the actual Fox Rods, sending her to go inside of King Wada's stomach and retrieve the artifact. When Amaterasu does this successfully, Ninetails takes them and lies, claiming she will use them for good, only to murder Queen Himiko to prevent her from interfering with the former's plans.
- Amaterasu pursues Ninetails onto Oni Island, her stronghold, where the demonic fox proceeds to mock Amaterasu for her failures, insulting the brush gods and using her own powers to imitate them and become one herself.
