Nina Myers is one of the main antagonists of the action thriller series 24.
She is a treasonous CTU agent turned terrorist. During the attack of the Drazens on Jack and his family, Myers initially posed as their ally and friend, but once the Drazens are all killed, Nina reveals her true colors, striking the Bauer family in an unimaginable way.
She was portrayed by Sarah Clarke.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Worked as a mole at CTU, giving information to the Drazen crime syndicate during their attempted assassination of Presidential candidate David Palmer.
- When her cover was blown, Nina went on a rampage killing various CTU agents (like one who just witnessed her hiding incriminating evidence despite not alarming anyone out of confusion) as well as Jack Bauer's wife Teri. This makes her one of the most personal villains to Jack Bauer as this left a lasting impact over the course of the series.
- During Day 2 it's revealed that Nina helped smuggle a nuclear bomb into downtown Los Angeles for Syed Ali and Peter Kingsley, the latter of whom is a fellow Pure Evil.
- She also sold the CTU Headquarter's blueprints to domestic terrorists, leading to CTU being bombed killing dozens in the process.
- Though Nina claims she didn't know it was a nuke and that she only knew it was something big, she still showed no remorse in doing so and she certainly didn't care that she indirectly put thousands if not millions of people at risk. Furthermore, Nina is an established liar and could just as easily have been lying to feign innocence and help her case. Even if she wasn't lying, she still knowingly participated in a big terrorist attack, meaning this is not redeeming nor does it undermine the heinousness of her actions.
- While she helped Jack during Day 2 and provided important intel, this was only in exchange for a presidential pardon for her acts of terrorism. Furthermore, she was quick to turn on Jack and demand a presidential pardon for his murder. Fortunately, this failed.
- Resurfaced during Day 3 in Mexico to try and buy the Cordilla Virus for an unknown buyer, nearly outing Jack as a CTU agent during the auction.
- Tricked Jack into releasing a worm at CTU that was programmed to leak the identity of every undercover CTU agent worldwide. Fortunately, this was stopped by Chloe just in time.
- Attempted to escape custody and nearly killed Kim Bauer in CTU's basement.
- Lied to Jack about having more intel while reaching for her gun, fortunately Jack sees through this lie and shoots her dead.
- Despite 24's incredibly high Heinous Standards, Nina stands out due to her low resources and personal villainy towards Jack Bauer, having killed his wife and nearly driving him to suicide in the process.
Trivia[]
- During shooting of the first 24 season, it was originally intended to Nina Myers to be a genuine loyal CTU agent that would have been really killed by Jack Bauer to protect his family under the orders of the Drazens. However, once the producers were told that they wouldn't have only thirteen episodes but twenty-four, they decided to come up with new plotlines and that among them, was the plot twist of Nina being evil, so they changed her death scene to spare her. Had her original characterization been kept, Nina Myers wouldn't have been Pure Evil.
- Nina Myers is, along with Peter Kingsley, Vladimir Bierko, Abu Fayed, Phillip Bauer, Benjamin Juma and Alan Wilson, one of the seven 24 villains to be Pure Evil.
