It was a clever idea--It was. You'd never have guessed. Never! Not if it hadn't been for this interfering jackanape, this pompous Scotch fool. I'd thought out every detail--every detail! I can't help what went wrong. How was I to know Royde knew the truth about Audery and Adrian? Audery and Adrian... Curse Audery--she shall hang--you've got to hang her--I want her to die afraid--to die--to die... I hate her. I tell you I want her to die... [...] I want her to be hanged. I do want her to be hanged...
~ Nevile's breakdown after being exposed.

Nevile Strange (real name unknown) is the main antagonist of Agatha Christie's 1944 murder mystery novel Towards Zero and the TV adaptation of the same name. He is a sociopathic serial killer who attempts to frame his ex-wife Audrey for murder so she will be hanged.

In the Agatha Christie's Marple adaptation, he was portrayed by Greg Wise. In the 2010 radio adaptation, he was voiced by Hugh Bonneville.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Murdered another child with a bow and arrow when he was younger for seemingly no reason. While it was judged an accident, the fact that he was earlier seen practicing with a bow and arrow suggests otherwise.
  • After his wife Audrey left him out of fear, he began planning to arrange for her to be humiliated, socially destroyed, framed for murder and executed.
  • Ran over and killed Adrian Royde in order to hurt Audrey.
  • Arranged for Arthur Treves to die from his heart problems by forcing him to climb a long flight of stairs in order to stop him identifying Nevile as a murderer.
  • Bludgeoned Lady Tressilian to death and planted evidence at the scene in order to frame Audrey and get her hanged.
  • Showed no remorse when exposed, only complaining that his clever idea didn't work.
