I'm rich and I'm bored. What else do you need to know?
~ Nemesis after Blake Morrow asks him who he is.

The Nemesis is the titular main antagonist of the comic book series of the same name, created by Mark Millar. He is a wealthy, psychopathic man who eventually became a supervillain for the sake of satiating his boredom, committing as many heinous crimes and killing countless people for fun. He is the archenemy of Blake Morrow, the hero of his story.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He makes it clear that his entire motive behind his heinous and vile actions was simply out of boredom and the fact that he is wealthy, meaning he has no sympathetic or redeeming qualities that pay tribute to his actions other than sheer depravity at best.
  • Stealing the identity and backstory of the real Matthew Anderson and using it as his own background to make himself look sympathetic on paper.
  • He is infamous for globally traveling around the world to torment police detectives and investigators, killing countless police forces and innocents alike, and wreaking havoc wherever he goes. He's done so with Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and North Korea.
  • Often kills and shoots up the remainder of his allies whenever he feels like they're no longer of any further use to him, which is his way of "paying them upon retiring".
  • He had an entire building bombed to wipe out a Japanese SWAT Team, which the collateral damage soon expanded to a nearby train bridge.
  • He had a Japanese investigator rammed by a running express train gruesomely, and said train fell off the ledge due to his earlier stunt destroying said bridge, causing the deaths of hundreds of passengers on board.
  • He's revealed to have already set up a mole in US detective Blake Morrow's aid, Stuart, and tell me everything he needs to know about the former.
  • Killing two pilots and hijacking an airplane with the US President on board, recklessly landing the plane onto a building on an open road full of traffic before crashing into a gasoline truck, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and causing an explosion in Washington, DC. He then kidnapped the US President and took him hostage.
  • He gassed up the entire Pentagon using nerve gas, killing 20,000 people inside (minus Blake Morrow and Stuart for the pragmatic reason of keeping them alive to further torment) who suffered from asphyxiation.
  • Shot up and killed several police officers on the road chasing after him and later used a rocket launcher to blast down a helicopter prior to his temporary arrest.
  • Orchestrated a massive jailbreak while about to be in custody, having one of his men gun down dozens of security guards while he brutalized 97 more to death, released 2,000 inmates, and had the whole prison bombed, killing the rest of the security staff and guards alike.
  • Kidnapped Blake Morrow's teenage son and daughter for the purpose of making Blake reveal his family's biggest secrets just to humiliate him, making him confess to his wife's affair with him; his son was revealed to be homosexual; and his daughter was aborted once.
  • He's revealed to have inseminated Blake's daughter with his son's semen, as well as rigging her womb to leave her infertile should she be aborted. Making this both rape and incest by proxy.
  • Strapped bombs all over his fake uncle and set them off to wipe out a SWAT team, and the former was later revealed to have killed off the rest of the US President's security breach members by having them gassed.
  • Shoots Stuart in the head after he's no longer of use to him, clarifying that he "pays them after they retire." It's implied he's already shot up his other allies to death after they're no longer useful to him.
  • Strapped bombs all over Blake's wife and the US President, sadistically intending to make Blake choose between either of them to live or be blown to bits. Though it backfired when the latter sacrificed his life for the Morrows.
  • Attempts to shoot and kill Blake Morrow during their final confrontation.
  • Despite the pathologically tremendous heinous standards of the Millarworld, Nemesis stands out as one of the most vilest for his unique crime of forced incest by proxy and relatively having fewer resources than the current leader of the Fraternity, Wesley Gibson, only having the backing of a wealthy old man to have been granted the necessities needed for his actions.

Trivia[]

  • His Reloaded counterpart does not qualify as Pure Evil since, other than being a soft reboot separated from the original story, he genuinely has a tragic backstory of his drug-dealing parents being framed for several murders and genuinely wants to avenge them, which is a huge contrast to the original using his backstory and has no sympathetic motive at all.
