Nefarian Serpine is a major antagonist in the Skulduggery Pleasant series. He is a sadistic sorcerer and follower of the dark gods known as the Faceless Ones. He notably serves as Skulduggery's archenenemy, being the one who murdered the skeleton detective and his family.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- His main ability is to give whoever he points his Red Right Hand at the most cruel and agonizing death imaginable.
- Joined Mevolent on his campaign to bring back the Faceless Ones so they could either wipe out or enslave humanity.
- Abducted Skulduggery's family and then murdered them before his eyes.
- Tortured Skulduggery for days before executing him and putting him on a pike to break morale.
- Is implied to have done the same to other rebel leaders.
- Killed Skulduggery's friend and comrade Larrikin with his Red Right Hand when he jumped in his way trying to save Dexter Vex.
- Despite being pardoned for his numerous crimes through a peace treaty he continued to serve the Faceless Ones and sought to return them with the book of names.
- Murdered Valkyrie's uncle Gordon when he wouldn't give him the sceptre of the ancients.
- Killed the two sorcerers who were watching him for the sanctuary.
- Hires a man to break into Gordon's house in search for the key to the sceptre.
- Abducts and tortures Skulduggery for the location of the key while continuing to do so for fun even after learning he knows nothing.
- Experiments on a captured cleaver to turn him into a undead killing machine
- Sends the cleaver to kill Valkyrie to break Skulduggery's spirit.
- Uses his mole Sagacious Tome to lure out and murder the leaders of the sanctuary.
- Massacres everyone in the sanctuary with his Hollow Men and his own powers.
- Kills his own mole Sagacious without batting an eye when he realises he needs to do it to remove his protection of the book of names.
- Spitefully tries to kill Valkyrie in front of Skulduggery when his plans are foiled.
- Posesses his more noble counterpart.
- Kills the psychic who installed his mental barriers.
- Takes his alternate self hostage to force Skulduggery and Valkyrie to let him go.
- Swears to "sharpen Skulduggery up" by again ruining his life.
