Brave Undead, you have proven yourself to me. Now, be one, with the Dark...
~ Nashandra before her boss fight

Queen Nashandra is the main antagonist and final boss of the 2014 action role-playing game Dark Souls ll.

She initially appeared to be a beautiful young woman who fell in love with and eventually married Vendrick, the King of Drangleic. In reality, she was actually a sapient shard of Manus, who seduced Vendrick in the hopes of usurping his kingdom, eventually manipulating him into going to war against the Giants. Years after orchestrating Drangleic's downfall, Nashandra continues to rule over the ruined kingdom, manipulating the Bearer of the Curse to help her attain the Throne of Want and achieve ultimate power.

She was voiced by Harriet Kemsley.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • Seduced King Vendrick so that she would become Queen, then incited him to start a war with the Giants, leading to many deaths, giants taken prisoner as well as their eventual extinction and the kingdom of Drangliec being left in ruins.
    • The war is implied to have had a hand in the hollowing of the people, as Captain Drummond states how his soldiers, who are seen as hollows in the modern day, are giving up hope, which usually leads to hollowing.
  • Looked only to reach the Throne of Want to seek power.
  • Stayed with Vendrick to try and take his Great Soul for her to use with the Throne of Want.
  • Tries to manipulate the Bearer of the Curse into leading her to the Throne of Want, and hints at wanting them to kill Vendrick in the Undead Crypt when going for the King's Ring.
  • In order to reach Vendrick, she has them kill many of his followers. While most of them had gone completely hollow and insane, Velstadt was only starting to go hollow, but was still human, and the Throne Watcher and Defender showed no signs of losing their humanity.
  • Betrays and attempts to kill the Bearer of the Curse shortly after they defeat the Throne Watcher and Defender because they were no longer useful to her.
  • Although she was a Child of the Dark and a fragment of Manus' soul, she had her own moral consciousness, as she skillfully manipulated both Vendrick and the Bearer of the Curse, with horrific consequences in the former's case. In addition, her siblings (most notably Alsanna) showed that they are capable of possessing good and even redeeming qualities. Nashandra, however, had no redeeming qualities, being willing to go to extreme lengths to gain as much power for herself as possible without any remorse.

Trivia[]

  • She's the only Dark Souls Pure Evil to be female.
