Muruta Azrael is the secondary antagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

He was voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama in the Japanese version. In English dub, he is voiced by Andrew Francis in the Ocean Dub and Todd Haberkorn in NYAV Post Dub (HD Remaster).

What Makes Him Pure Evil

• Muruta is the one that ordered the nuking of Junius Seven, starting the war between ZAFT and Earth.
• He brainwashed and modified orphans into Extended and Boasted Men, making them brutal killers.
  • He also physically abused Gundam pilots for not giving them addictive medicine ,if they had failed hunting down Freedom Gundam and Justice Gundam.
• He activated Cyclops System, located in JOSH-A headquarters,Alaska to kill ZAFT troops, sacrificing his unnecessary troops in the process so Blue Cosmos through the Atlantic Federation can gain full control over the Earth Alliance.
• Forced neutral nations to join the side of the Earth Alliance on the threat of invading them as part of Blue Cosmos' propaganda campaign to have the entire Earth against the PLANTs by referring to the Coordinators as "Mankind's Enemy".
• After witnessing the power Orb had, he refused to open negotiations with them, instead deciding to wipe out the nation out completely.
• He attempted to nuke PLANT twice, the latter to deal with ZAFT's GENESIS Weapon by eliminating as many civilians as possible so they wouldn't have to fire it at Earth.
• When he obtained the disk that contains information to use nuclear power without getting jammed by N-Jammer Canceller from Flay (via Cruset), he used it to make nuclear missiles to nuke PLANT and destroying Fortress Boaz, instead of using it to solve Earth’s energy crisis.
• Tried to kill Flay for telling the Archangel to dodge the Dominion's cannon.
• He shot Natarle multiple times for locking him in the bridge of the Dominion.
