Muniel is a major antagonist in the Sand Land franchise. He serves as the main antagonist of the game and the Angelic Hero arc of the anime adaptation.
He is a Second Class Angel from the heaven and his goal involves exterminating demons. He is also the archenemy of Beelzebub and Princess Ann.
He was voiced by Ayumu Murase.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- In contrast to the angel race, who are simply content of doing menial labor, Muniel stood out differently as he was tired of working and wanted to exterminate demons especially in Sand Land despite a peace treaty between angels and demons, who only want to live peacefully and never do anything evil, to never have conflict, showing he is willing to violate those rules.
- He stole some artifacts from the heaven, and he went to the demon villages to confront Lucifer, who only wanted to watch television peacefully and offered Muniel a chance to leave. Muniel ignored his warning and used the magic staff to destroy Lucifer’s television, and that made the latter angry that he destroyed the former’s wing and sent him flying all the way to Forest Land, showing that Muniel’s past is not at all tragic, but his own fault.
- Ten years ago, he and Bred formed coup’de etat by imprisoning King Jam in a cell and sealing Queen Lilith, who is a demon and Lucifer’s daughter, in an urn. However, Princess Ann escaped before Muniel could have done something worse to her.
- During the next ten years as ruler, he was declared a hero, which was a lie and a title made for himself rather than earned, and been gathering Aquaniums, a power crystal that is usually to produce water but can be used as a deadly weapon to power up a giant warship, Garam with the intent of exterminating demons.
- He set up traps to lure any rebels by using fake King Jam to make an execution and fake Aquarium.
- When he and Beezlebub fight with the latter attempting to rescue King Jam, the former used his soldiers as meat shields, showing how he treats his soldiers poorly.
- The plan nearly work had the heroes not been able to escape with their lives. However, he was able to make the people of Forest Land hate Beezlebub and Princess Ann for being demons, which shows Muniel’s work in creating hate crime.
- When he and his army arrives at the Demon Village, where they ransacked, he confronted Lucifer and sealed him in an urn and acquire the final Aquanium.
- After gathering enough Aquanium crystals to awake the Garam, he uses the device to destroy the mountain that the rebels were hiding, which greatly disturbed Bred.
- The Forest Land rebels would have been killed had the Swimmers not been able to warn them early.
- Muniel then declares the peace treaty between Forest Land and Sand Land is now broken as he declared war to the latter with the intent to use Garam’s death ray on the latter just to exterminate demons, not caring about humans living in Sand Land, to have casualties, which once again greatly disturb Bred.
- He used Garam to try to kill Beezlebub’s group, Forest Land rebels, Swimmers, and Sand Land Royal Army who they all team-up to stop him.
- When he confronts Beezlebub inside Garam, the former tried to kill the latter.
- After the Garam’s death ray stop thanks to Princess Ann, Muniel uses his telekinetic power to make Princess Ann force to stab herself on the neck with a sharp tool in front of Beezlebub, who happened to be her uncle, out of spite. This anger Beezlebub that he manages to beat up Muniel.
- Muniel absorbs Aquanium energy inside Garam, he grows powerful and recovered from his defeat that he brutally beats up Beezlebub. Also, this causes Garam to self-destruct not caring that his soldiers, including Bred, could get killed in the explosion.
- When Rao and Thief arrive to help Beezlebub, Muniel tried to kill them. Also, he boasted that now that he is powerful, he is declared a god and people should worship him, showing he is power-mad, hypocritical, and a narcissist.
- After Rao and Thief manage to help Beezlebub by using a tank to create a hole inside Garam for the moonlight to shine on him, allowing Beezlebub to recover and grow powerful enough to give Muniel a well-deserving beat down to the point of losing consciousness and freeing Lucifer and Lilith from the urns.
- After the Garam crisis have been averted, Muniel vowed to get his revenge on Beezlebub. However, the archangel was displeased by his actions that they sentenced Muniel to 1000 years of menial labor and being supervised by an angel to prevent him from leaving heaven again, much to his horror, making his punishment absolutely well deserved, and this is played with satisfaction.
- Despite his first encounter with Beezlebub that made him comical, he was taken seriously when he starts to use Garam and gotten powerful by absorbing Aquanium energy.
- Overall, he is described as a selfish, self-righteous, xenophobic, power-hungry, and a narcissistic psychopath that wants to exterminate demons just to make a name for himself rather than believing that demons are evil, when in fact demons don’t do anything evil other than minor mischief, and is also a complete disgrace by the other angels for having such negative traits.
