“ | Dunban: Mumkhar! I thought it might be, but...you're to blame for all this? Mumkhar: I can't tell you how badly I wanted this sword! Does this puny boy even figured out how it works yet? What are you willing to do? Would you even kill a Homs to beat us? Dunban: You dare ask that of us? Why did you betray us to Mechonis? Why did you kill our friends at the colony? WHY?! Mumkhar: You wanna know? Because it's your home. |

Mumkhar, also known as Metal Face, is a major antagonist in the 2010 videogame Xenoblade Chronicles. He is the archenemy of Shulk and Dunban for ravaging their home, Colony 9.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Norio Wakamoto, who also voiced Cell in Dragon Ball Z. In English, he was voiced by Timothy Watson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- While Mumkhar was once an honorable (though unreliable) soldier of Bionis and a comrade to Dunban and Dickson, his obsession with the Monado and jealousy of Dunban gradually turned him against Bionis.
- Cowardly abandoned his friends in the Sword Valley when the Mechon first attacked so he could save himself. Although this causes Mumkhar to be presumably killed by the Mechon.
- After his conversion into Metal Face, he lead an armada of Mechon towards Colony 9, killing dozens of innocent people; including Fiora, something that he coldly taunts Shulk and Dunban over throughout the game over.
- While he temporarily ‘kills’ the PE Zanza (who was using the giant Arglas’ body), this wasn’t for any benevolent reason. It was mainly to avoid him removing the restraints on the Monado, which served his and Mechonis’ interests.
- Mercilessly kills Sorean, the emperor of High Entia, after he pushes his daughter Melia out of the way, sadistically taunting her as she mourns his death.
- When Shulk manages to convince Dunban to spare him, Mumkhar still refuses to relent, attempting to kill Dunban twice until he’s accidentally impaled by a sharp spire from Gallahad Fortress.
- Then the platform falls into the Great Sea, plummeting Mumkhar to his death.
- He is indirectly responsible for Egil choosing to brainwash Gadolt and future Faced Mechon and strip them of their memories, which Egil did to keep them from hindered by the memories of their lives pre-transformation, due to Mumkhar repeatedly prioritizing his grudge with Dunban, which resulted in his death, something Egil wanted to avoid with future Faced Mechon.
- While Dunban does mourn him following his death, even going as far to wish him peace and vowing to never forget him (while Melia expresses some pity in the same Heart to Heart called ‘Eternal Scars’), it's out of respect for their past as partners in war before his betrayal than out of actual sympathy for the man himself. Even Shulk, who attempted to save him from his death out of compassion for a fellow homs, admits to hating him for what he did to Fiora and Sorean.
- Although he did serve Egil willingly, he only did so for his own selfish goals since, unlike Egil, Mumkhar didn't care about the Machina or the threat Zanza posed to life on both Bionis and Mechonis.
- While Egil and Zanza did far worse than him, with the former turning Homs into Faced Mechon against their will and attempting to commit genocide against the life of Bionis and the latter attempting to wipe out all life in the universe, they both had higher resources than him. Regardless, Mumkhar still manages to stand out due to his razing of Colony 9 and his personal villainy towards the heroes, including his murder of Fiora (however temporary it was) and Sorean.
