Mister Chuckle Teeth, it's time to say farewell.. If you try to run and hide, I'll send you straight to HELL!
~ The nightmarish end to Mr Chuckleteeth's unsettling song.

Mister Chuckleteeth is the main antagonist of The X-Files episode "Familiar".

He is a demonic entity whom was summoned by a witch to take vengeance on her husband, the familiar would however have other plans that would result in the deaths of dozens of innocent people, diminishing civility and causing unrest throughout the town he occupied before being supposedly banished.

He was portrayed by Keith Arbuthnot.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Despite being summoned by a witch to terrorize her cheating husband, Mr Chuckle Teeth commits various heinous acts purely out of his own will, demonstrating clear moral agency.
  • Disguising himself as a child mascot to lure and kill dozens of children.
  • Lured Andrew out into the woods away from his mother, only to then transform into a hellhound and brutally maul him to death.
  • Mercilessly killing Anna's daughter which would cause outrage in the town and resulting in an sex offender being beaten down by the townsfolk and shot to death by Andrew's father (this individual was falsely accused of the crime that Mr Chuckle Teeth was responsible for).
  • Sadistically sang to Andrew's father about 'sending him to hell' before ambushing and brutally killing him.
  • Making Andrew's mother hallucinate her dead son, making her drive off the road and crash her car, resulting in her death.
  • Viciously mauling the chief in his hellhound form.
  • Presumably kill dozens of more innocent people for the fun of it (mostly children) as its heavily implied that his banishment was not successful.
  • His appearance in the revival is responsible for significantly darkening the tone of Season 11 compared to the other recent episodes in the series, more akin to the older The X-Files seasons.

Trivia[]

  • Mister Chuckle Teeth was likely inspired by Slappy the Dummy, who is also Pure Evil.
  • The events of the episode are supposedly based on the various myths and legends revolving around witchcraft in rural America such as the Bell Witch.
  • Despite his goofy appearance, he is not Laughably Evil as he is completely treated with genuine horror and disgust in the episode.
