I, Mortamor, am the lord and master of every living creature! You will bow before my supreme power!
~ Mortamor

Mortamor is the main antagonist and final boss of the Super Famicom video game Dragon Quest VI, as well as its remakes. He is the master of the Four Dread Fiends, sending them to seal four strategic locations in the Dream World that he considered a threat for his desires. This demon was also the one responsible of terrorizing the Real World with monsters, because he yearned to conquer both worlds.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • According to some NPC dialogue, he was a monster that became too greedy with power and fed on the woes, greed, and negative emotions of creatures. There are some unfortunate souls that ended in his world one way or another and are suffering by his diabolical schemes and tortured by its demon minions. The Sages Benjamin and Issac were among those people that ended up in his realm.
  • While sending Murdaw, Jamirus, Gracos, Dhuran, and Blackmar to help take over both worlds, he also ordered the Dreadfiends to seal Alltrades Abbey, Medford Palace, Sorceria and Cloudsgate Citadel away.
  • Mortamor's goal is to completely destroy the concept of hope and rules the Dream World and Real World.
  • He killed Eldress Isnomor after granting Ashlynn Magic Burst, in spite of Gracos' defeat.
  • Mortamor trapped the Greedmore Valley in an eternal loop of the habitants killing each other of his own enjoyment.
  • Mortamor sent anyone in the Dread Realm who rebelled against him to a prison ruled by Blackmar, who execute prisoners from little to no reasons.
  • After Blackmar is defeated, Mortamor turns the prisoners of Gallows Moor into animals and the giants to stone as a show of power and crushing their newfound hope.
  • Despite fearing Nokturnus in the alternative part of the story, Mortamor is already past his redemption. In fact, his first form might be heavily implied that he had a moral agency due to being a human or another living being with a clear moral agency and therefore qualifies.
