Welcome to oblivion!
~ Mordekaiser when using Realm of Death.
The ungrateful call me "tyrant". The wise call me "lord".
~ Mordekaiser
I carved my kingdom beyond from the ashes of nothing. No mortals, nor even gods will stop me from claiming what is mine.
~ Mordekaiser

Sahn-Uzal, better known as Mordekaiser and also known as The Iron Revenant, is one of the overarching antagonists and playable champion in the League of Legends franchise.

He is a nightmarish undead tyrant who was once a legendary warlord of Noxus. Sahn-Uzal rejected the afterlife that awaited him and was reborn as the nightmarish, undead warlord, Mordekaiser. Wielding unrivaled necromantic sorcery and an indomitable will, he embarked on a second great conquest, bending both the living and the dead to his iron rule. His empire grew vast, fueled by his dark magic, his legions of enslaved souls, and his unrelenting thirst for domination. However, his reign of terror was ultimately halted when a rare alliance of Noxian leaders and sorcerers managed to seal him away, believing they had consigned him to oblivion. He is also arch-nemesis of LeBlanc and Veigar by being former master of first and jailer of latter.

But even in exile, Mordekaiser’s influence endured. The souls he had claimed whispered his name in fear and reverence, and his will seeped into the fabric of death itself. Slowly and methodically, he plots his return to the world of the living, forging an afterlife of his own design where he reigns supreme. When his plans finally come to fruition, he believes mankind—and even the strongest empires—will stand little chance against him. To Mordekaiser, death is not an end but merely another domain to conquer, and soon, both the mortal realm and the afterlife will bow before his undying will. His ultimate goal is to conquer all realms, from the material plane to the spirit world, bending every kingdom, every soul, and even the afterlife itself to his unbreakable will. When his plans finally come to fruition, not even death will offer escape, and all of existence will tremble beneath his iron rule.

The 46th champion added to the game, he was released on February 24, 2010 and was later reworked on June 12, 2019. He is most commonly played in the top lane.

He was originally voiced by Adam Harrington, who also voiced Lewis Dodgeson in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, and is currently voiced by Fred Tatasciore, whom also voiced Don Corneo from the Final Fantasy VII remake, Mephistopheles from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Mad-Man from Primal. In the Japanese dub, he is voiced by Takaya Kuroda, whom also voiced Samejima from Inuyashiki.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Back when he was a mortal human, he was a conqueror who led sieges on all of the tribes and settlements in the northern wildlands.
  • He committed all of his crimes because he believed himself to be worthy of joining the gods in the Hall of Bones for his own desire for glory.
  • After he died, he was dissatisfied with the barren afterlife he ended up in. He plotted to conquer the realm of the dead as well, tempting mortals across Runeterra to revive him.
  • He made promises of power to a coven of thirteen sorcerers in exchange for reviving him, but once he was revived he killed them all (in addition to taunting the last of the sorcerers before killing him as well) before enslaving their souls.
  • Empowering himself by collecting magical artifacts, the newly-raised Mordekaiser started his second conquest of Runeterra, slaughtering generations of people.
  • He enslaved the yordle Veigar and forced him to use his magic for his own sake by strengthening his kingdom or terrorizing his victims. Over thousands of years, Veigar was driven insane by being isolated from his fellow yordles and witnessing Mordekaiser's atrocities, and by the time of Mordekaiser's defeat Veigar was left permanently traumatized, adopting a villainous persona.
  • Though he was banished back to Mitna Rachnun by LeBlanc, Mordekaiser had planned for it beforehand and was able to enslave all of the souls of the victims of his conquests, being unable to fade due to his dark magic perverting them. He subjected them to fates worse than death, trapping them in his afterlife forever with the weakest souls becoming literal building blocks for his structures.
  • He was cruel towards even the souls he considered worthy, refusing to let them speak or even move unless he commanded them to, and considered his generals as expendable souls to die for his sake.
  • His current goal is to acquire enough power to become unstoppable so he can conquer both the realms of the living and the dead and rule over them for eternity, knowing that once he returns no-one on Runeterra will have the means to stop him.
  • He has one of the highest kill counts of all villains in the League of Legends franchise, and even though he has to compete with several cataclysmic villains he stands out by trapping the souls of his countless victims in his kingdom in fates worse than death and leaving them at his mercy.
