“ | The most important thing in life is desire. You can achieve anything you want. The world is yours for the taking. Nothing is impossible for you, my girls. All you need is to desire it. | „ |
~ Gribben to her students, foreshadowing her heinous action towards Fiamma. |
“ | I would do anything for you. You know that don't you? We're going to be great friends you and I, and share simply everything. We'll see the world together, we will ride with bandits in South America with rough diamonds hidden in our saddles. There are islands you know? With undiscovered tribes, places no one has explored. We'll climb the canopies of Amazonas, and talk of the life we lived. Anything is possible you know. But you have to learn to share. You can't make friends beg... Don't make me beg... | „ |
~ Miss Gribben's words before raping the unconscious Fiamma. |
Miss "G" Gribben is the main antagonist of the 1999 psychological horror novel Cracks and its 2009 film adaptation of the same name.
She is the agoraphobic but fun-loving diving instructor at St. Mathilda's boarding school who develops an obsessive and violent crush on her new student, Fiamma Corona, the story's protagonist.
She was portrayed by Eva Green who also portrayed Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Although she experienced agoraphobia and fear in her life, this does not make her tragic at all due to her crimes.
- She groomed her 11-to-16-year-old students on numerous occasions, one of which included taking them all skinny dipping in the middle of the night.
- More vivid examples of this behavior also included taking advantage of Di Radfield by playing with her emotions and manipulating her, and an unconscious Fiamma, whom she then raped.
- She stalked and harassed Fiamma Corona to the point of forcing her to hide from her.
- Though she claims multiple times to love Fiamma, this "love" is more of a perverted obsession for her than genuine love.
- She psychologically abused and unjustly punished her students for petty reasons.
- She manipulated Di and the rest of the diving team into chasing down and beating Fiamma to a pulp.
- She allowed Fiamma to die in her arms by refusing to let her use her inhaler, knowing that Fiamma had asthma. This action caused Di to contact the other girls, and then later everyone abandoned Miss G in return.
- She tricked the already-guilt-ridden diving team into thinking Fiamma's death was entirely their fault.
- Her fate of being abandoned by her diving team and later fired by the school board is ultimately deserved for her actions against Fiamma and the rest of them. Given how she was fired by her authorities due to maintaining the school's reputation, she is still considered a Karma Houdini due to her insufficient punishment, and she escaped with her crimes rather than dying or being imprisoned.
Trivia[]
- She is one of the two characters played by Eva Green to be Pure Evil, the other being Ava Lord.
