The Mind Flayer is the main antagonist of the 2023 IDW crossover comic, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Stranger Things.

Like the original version, the Mind Flayer is the ruler of the supernatural dimension, "the Upside Down", where he is the hive mind for most creatures that originated there, such as the Demogorgons for example. Recently, the Mind Flayer set sights on New York City and planned to teleport thousands into the Upside Down.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • While non-canon, the Mind Flayer is likely to be the same one from the first and second seasons of Stranger Things. Therefore, it shares the same crimes as its original counterpart such as:
    • Kidnapping and possessing Will Byers, as well as psychologically tormenting him.
    • Through his Demogorgons, he caused numerous deaths.
    • Is still responsible for the death of Bob Newby, having his Demodogs maim him in front of Joyce Byers.
  • Finding his way out through a portal, he brainwashed numerous Utroms into doing his bidding and using their teleportation machine for his own hegemonic end.
  • He had his Demodogs unleashed on a subway express, rounding up dozens of innocent civilians and having them killed to where their corpses are seen piled up a stairway or left in a deserted sub express.
  • The Mind Flayer tried to have the rest of the Demodogs round up every last person in Times Square, to which he'll have thousands of them devoured on this very spot.
  • Using the teleportation device, his objective was to consume half of New York City to drown within the Upside Down, which would presumably result in thousands, if not, millions of deaths, and later kickstart a full-on invasion through his army of Demogorgons and Demodogs.
  • Tries to stop and kill the Party and the Turtles from preventing his agenda.
  • The Mind Flayer still maintains Moral Agency since, if proven to be true based on its description from the second season, is a hyperintelligent superorganism with a mind of its own. This is proven from the fact he was able to strategize a full-scale invasion.
