Merinov is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Carl Maddox), of the 2013 first-person shooter stealth video game Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, the sequel to the first game. He is ex-Serbian military, who became an arms dealer along with Maddox after killing and usurping Marko Vladic.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Helped Marko Vladic carry out a genocide in Bosnia.
- Falsely acted as an ally to Cole Anderson along with Maddox in their mission to bring down Vladic, and lead them through Sarajevo, while he actively helps them kill several Serbian soldiers.
- After they kill Vladic (and several of his soldiers of course), they meet up with Merinov, who treacherously shows his true colours by putting on a red armband, revealing himself to be one of them, and the Serbs abduct Anderson and Maddox, while the former is tortured by the Serbs.
- Attempts to frame the US government for the genocide in Sarajevo.
- After he takes command of the Serbs after Vladic's been killed, he orders the city of Sarajevo to be firebombed with mortal fire, destroying buildings at will, uncaring for who or what gets caught in the crossfire.
- It's soon discovered that Merinov and Maddox had been planning on killing Vladic and betraying Cole all along, so as to gain access to Vladic's weapons.
- Has a recon team ambushed and almost wiped out by his allies, which includes Maddox, and Merinov hands the surviving captives over to the terrorist Kalalo, who personally executes one of them, and plans to kill Diaz, but Cole stops and kills Kalalo, saving Diaz's life in the process, but Anderson is jailed for disobeying orders, and has a flashback to his aforementioned time in Sarajevo.
- It's soon revealed that he has plans to sell a high profile weapon to the terrorist Abdel Ahmed Hassan, who plans to use it to start a war between India and Pakistan by detonating said weapon at the border of the two nations, while Merinov also plans to sell weapons to both sides of the conflict.
