~ Mephistopheles revealing himself to the Actors. |
Mephistopheles is the main antagonist of the 2016 video game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies mode, and appears in "The Beast from Beyond" as the true final boss of the entire mode.
He was voiced by Fred Tatasciore, who also voiced Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal: Head-On, Ultron in Avengers Assemble, Malthus in The Conjuring franchise, the High Override in the Ben 10 reboot, Don Corneo in Final Fantasy VII Remake, the Mad-Man in Primal and Megatron in Cybertron games.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Mephistopheles made a deal with Willard Wyler to arrange innocent people to be killed while the demon would devour their souls, exploiting Wyler's grief at the loss of his wife to manipulate him into accepting his deal.
- He gave Wyler the power to suck people into his horror films, where Wyler would then have the people he despised to be subjected to horrific deaths, including being devoured by a horde of zombies or suffering cruel and unusual deaths at the hands of a giant mad butcher, while Mephistopheles would reap the benefits.
- Among the many victims included Wyler's own pregnant daughter and her fiancé while Mephistopheles would devour their souls, which made Wyler realize the true scope of the crimes and become guilt-ridden and summon four actors in the hopes of fighting through the films and kill Mephistopheles.
- After the actors fight through Wyler's movies and seemingly kill him, Mephistopheles shows up and tosses Wyler aside before fighting the actors to devour and enslave their souls so he can use them to claim more souls.
- Even though the actors defeated Mephistopheles, he leaves them trapped in a soul jar with no means of escape, meaning he has no sense of honor.
- There is nothing known about Mephistopheles other than him being a demon who made his deal with Wyler, and there is no evidence of him being a demon which would effect his moral agency. He is completely sentient and aware of his actions but commits them out of sadism, taking joy in devouring the souls of innocents, whether he's doing it himself or finding people who can make the process easier. He also shows no remorse in all the atrocities he commits.
- Despite the story seeing to be humorous, Mephistopheles is played completely seriously in the story and is seen as a genuine threat. In fact, when Mephistopheles himself shows up as the final boss, the comedy vanishes completely.
- Being the main antagonist of this standalone zombie storyline, Mephistopheles sets the heinous standard in this story due to being the one to corrupt Wyler to commit all the atrocities on his behalf, which drove Wyler mad with guilt and regret, especially after learning he killed his own pregnant daughter and being unable to escape the demon's influence; while Mephistopheles himself arranges for dozens of people to be devoured or slaughtered and was the being who drove Wyler to kill his said daughter.
