Medea Pideth Machina is the overarching antagonist of The Rising of the Shield Hero Web Novel and the true mastermind of the Waves, the darkness of Melromarc and the world it belonged, and the vile actions of the Reincarnators, being the root and cause of all evil in the series.
In the later part, it was revealed that Princess Malty S. Melromarc, the series' main antagonist at the time, was a soul fragment to Medea, alongside other villains post-Melromarc, such as Takt Arusahorun Faubley, who were more or less connected to her somehow.
Medea is a goddess born as a human since ancient times whose goal is to unite the Eight Worlds and then descend into the fused world to devour its energy and cause the suffering and pain of all of its living beings. Once she is done with the eight worlds, she is presumably to do the same thing again elsewhere.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She gave life to a few soul fragments, first of all Malty S. Melromarc, with the sole purpose to cause mayhem in all of the Eight Worlds, seeing this as an amusement.
- She has no problems in betraying her own allies, even her own soul fragments, seeing them as nothing more or better than tools she’s free to use in the way she prefers, considering them to be her toys.
- She created the Waves of Calamity, causing the sufferences of all humanity, indirectly making from hundreds to thousands of victims, who just added at the enormous scale of victims who directly died by her hands.
- After realizing that the Heroes were aware of her schemes, she tried to destroy all of the Eight Worlds in order for her dominion to continue, even after fusing all of the Eight Worlds into one for her amusement, ending up temporarily killing three (Naofumi, Ren and Motoyasu) out of four of the Cardinal Heroes, leaving only Itsuki alive.
- She would revive Queen Mirellia Melromarc and brainwash her into becoming an evil tyrant. Fortunately, she would eventually break free from her control and turn good again.

- Due to causing or being indirectly (or even directly) responsible for the majority of the worst and most traumatizing and negatively impactful events in the Web Novel, such as the creation of the Waves of Calamity, every sufferance humanity was put through and the creation of some of the most despicable villains in the Web Novel, such as Malty S. Melromarc, she arguably serves as the most evil villain and character in the entire The Rising of the Shield Hero franchise.
