| ~ Dr. Mason Wren |
Dr. Mason Wren is one of the two main antagonists of the 1997 sci-fi film Alien Resurrection.
He was portrayed by the late J. E. Freeman.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Being the overseer of the project resurrecting Ellen Ripley and Xenomorph Queen, Wren created the clone Ripley 8. Prior to Ripley 8 there were 7 more clones, who either died in agony or begged to be killed due to their painful existence.
- His attempts recreate the Xenomorphs cause great suffering both to the intended victims (the people who were eventually killed by the Xenomorphs or in proximity to them) and to the Xenomorphs themselves (the cloned queen is killed by her own son, who couldn't recognized her and mistakes Ripley 8 for his true mother, and the individual known as Newborn comes out more similar to a disfigured and destructive child than to a proper Xenomorph, meaning he lived and died in misery).
- Kidnapped several humans to use as hosts for aliens to study from.
- Knowing one of the abductees were a terrorist, Wren attempts to have the entire team executed.
- While maneuvering the Auriga, Wren shoots Call after she gave him a pistol to open the lock in a flooded kitchen.
- He leaves others behind to die by closing the hatch, and so he could escape with the Betty.
- While holding Call hostage, Wren sadistically boasts his intentions of continuing his research on Earth, despite the uncontrollable nature of the Xenomorphs.
Trivia[]
- Mason Wren, alongside Carter J. Burke are the only two villains that are Pure Evil from the Alien franchise.
- He's also the only Jean-Pierre Jeunet villain to be Pure Evil.
- However, unlike Burke, he didn't get any deleted scenes that could've humanize him.
