Humans are... weak beings that fail if they don't find their own meanings and values.
~ Masayuki Kaneki

Professor Masayuki Kaneki (In Japanese: 金木雅之, Kaneki Masayuki) is the main antagonist in Voice 3: City of Accomplices, and an unseen antagonist in Voice 2: Generation of Disgust. He is Do Kang-woo's older brother and Yukiko Kaneki's husband, a respected human rights activist and professor in Japan.

His true identity is Woo Jong Woo (In Korean: 우종우, Woo Jong Woo), the true culprit behind the murder of Miho Fujiyama, an event that shocked Japan and the fake owner of a dark website called Auction Fabre.

He was portrayed by Park Byung-eun, and his younger self was portrayed by Jo Yong-jin.

What Make Him Pure Evil?[]

  • While he was bullied by Japanese children due to the fact that he's a Korean Japanese, none of his tragedies justifies his actions from later on.
  • As a child, he murdered Miho Fujiyama, which caused his father to be wrongfully accused of her murder and sentenced to death. This event irreparably shattered his family, which caused his brother, Do Kang-woo, to greatly suffer.
  • Spending his whole life tormenting his brother. This caused his Kang-woo to be constantly subjected to hallucinations of himself murdering someone else almost every day.
  • When he was adopted by the Kaneki household and lived under the alias of Masayuki Kaneki, he repeatedly cut off animals' ears and kept them as his collection.
  • When he worked as a professor at the Sokpo Alternative School, he brainwashed and corrupted many students.
  • He had his men kidnap Kang Kwon-joo and trapping her in a goshiwon. He then set up a remote-controlled bomb and attempted to kill Kwon-Joo by blowing her up. This event caused great damage to her hearing senses.
  • He tortured and murdered his wife, Yukiko Kaneki, by dismembering her with garrote wires while listening to Mozart's Lacrimosa. He then cuts her hair and used her blood to write "Flower of Heaven" on the floor.
  • In his hideout, he roasted his wife's heart and ate it.
  • He ordered his men to murder one of his students by cutting her tongue off.
  • He used a DuPont lighter to hypnotize his subordinates.
  • He forced his right-hand, Koichi Fujiyama, to drink poison and commit suicide. He then cannibalises Koichi's dead corpse.
  • In the morgue where Koichi's corpse was stored, he acted like a husband who was angry when he faced the murderer who killed his wife. However, he immediately dropped his façade and revealed his true nature as soon as the coroner left. He then ridiculed Koichi's corpse.
  • He broke into Kang Kwon-joo's hospital room and tried to cut off her ear with his garrote wire.
  • He ordered Jeon Chang-soo to kidnap Na Hong-soo, which lead to Na Hong-soo sacrificing himself to save Do Kang-woo.
  • He tracked down Jeon Chang-soo with a locator. As soon as Kaneki confronted Chang-soo, he killed Chang-soo with his garrote wire, chopped off Chang-soo's ear, and then wrote "Never Dry Desire" with Chang-soo's blood.
  • Once he realized that his father-in-law, Shoichi Makio, has started to suspect him of killing his wife Yukiko, he invited Makio to his studio and drugged Makio's bodyguard. After killing the bodyguard by breaking his neck, he strangled Makio to death with his garrote wire.
  • He tried to ruin Kang-woo publicly by broadcasting his illness over a radio.
  • He injured Detective Park Joong-ki with a magnum pistol, who came to his studio. He then threatened to kill Kwon-joo.
  • Ties up Kwon-joo into a chair and tried to cut off her ears. He then told his younger brother Kang-woo, that they were different from dirty bugs, and tried to turn Kang-woo into a nihilistic monster like him.
  • He is indirectly responsible for Kang-woo's death, whereas Kang-woo kills him to save Kwon-joo from him, the police came in at the wrong moment and shot Kang-woo due to a misunderstanding, ending the two brothers in a bloody tragedy.
