Markus is the main antagonist of the manga adaptation of the Pokémon film Arceus and the Jewel of Life. He is the vizier of Michina who seeks to kill Arceus for the titular Jewel of Life. Unlike his movie counterpart, Markus does not do it for Michina's wellbeing, but rather to replace Arceus as a god.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Had Damos hypnotized by Bronzong and imprisoned.
- Attempted to kill Arceus by electrocuting it and then dropping rocks on its head, and brainwashed Damos to do so, making Arceus believe Damos had betrayed it. This would result in the deaths of all within the Shrine to Arceus, history vilifying Damos and Arceus swearing vengeance on humanity.
- Had Ash and his friends imprisoned for no reason.
- Upon learning of how his scheme had failed, instead of reflecting upon his actions, decided to upgrade his methods to ensure his victory.
- Attempted to bury Arceus in "silver water," a strong solution that immediately hardened once released, and then electrocuted.
- Ordered his Heatran to incinerate Ash, a 10-year old boy.
- After Ash claimed the Jewel of Life, he ordered the gathered Pokémon to finish Arceus off. When that failed due to Sheena and Damos communicating with all the Pokémon, he ordered his Heatran to burn Arceus to death. With Heatran also affected, he kicked it in the head several times for disobeying, while Heatran was already in a harness that prevented it resisting.
- After Arceus was revived, Markus activated a mechanism within the Shrine to kill all inside, two of whom were children, fully intending to take them to the grave.
