“ | The human race deserves the zombie apocalypse, and now look at you. You destroy the very company that brings you the medicine to heal your loved ones. | „ |
~ Marian Mallon, to Frank West and Chuck Greene. |
Dr. Marian Mallon is the main antagonist of the Dead Rising franchise.
She is the director of Phenotrans who indirectly started the outbreaks in Las Vegas and Fortune City to collect queens and use them to further profit off Zombrex production. After the fall of her company for the controversial truth, Marian wanted to find the orphan immune to the zombie parasite, with the help of General Hemlock, to use it to create a cure for herself.
She was voiced by Jacqueline Samuda in Dead Rising 2: Case West and was voiced by Kathleen Garrett in Dead Rising 3.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Kidnapped numerous innocent people and experimented on them unethically in order to try and find the cure to the virus for herself over the course of at least five years.
- Anybody who objects morally to her plans ends up getting killed, shown when she orders her right-hand, Harjit Singh, to snap Dr. Curnrow's neck after he attempted to expose Phenotrans immoral actions.
- Was responsible for the Still Creek outbreak and the Las-Vegas zombie outbreak and sent her enforcer Harjit Singh to start both of them, murdering an estimated 100,000 people and over one million getting infected in Vegas alone, with thousands dying in Still Creek. Upon hearing about the results from the Las Vegas Outbreak, she reacted with extreme glee, saying that "everything is going as planned in Las Vegas" to Singh and cracked a huge smile after Singh replied, thinking that the plan succeeding was excellent and revealed her intentions to cause more outbreaks in the future.
- Her planning the Las Vegas outbreak also lead to Chuck's wife becoming a zombie and him being forced to kill her after she infected his daughter, Katey Greene, causing Chuck to become a stressed out man who needed to get Katey Zombrex daily for the next 11 years.
- She planned an outbreak in Fortune City, along with Tyrone King and Raymond Sullivan, killing thousands or even millions.
- Sent her soldiers to capture Frank West, Chuck Greene and Isabela Keyes after they found out about her plans.
- Hypocritically called out humanity for their greed and apathy, citing the zombie apocalypse as well-deserved, yet the only greedy and apathetic person to be seen here is her.
- She took the opportunity to mock Chuck about having a cure but not releasing it to the public just to kick the dog over the fact his daughter is infected despite not actually having a cure to begin with, making this act even more cruel.
- Tried to kill Frank and Chuck by self-destructing her base, while she escaped with Isabela, not caring about her henchmen and workers possibly getting killed in the destruction.
- Assisted Isabela with starting the Los Perdidos outbreak, killing thousands, or possibly even millions of people, all for the sake of finding the cure for her own needs.
- Her getting some of the illegals killed caused Angel to become an alcoholic that decided to sacrifice herself at the end of the Fallen Angel DLC in order to protect anymore illegals members from being murdered.
- Ordered to capture Annie and other illegals with Hemlock by ordering a raid on their hideout.
- Captured Nick and Diego, and experimented on Diego with a laser beam that explodes him from the inside out, murdering Diego and making hundreds of zombie parasites swarm out of his body, horrifying Nick and killing all the other people unfortunate enough to be in the same room as them. She then attempts to experiment on Nick too, but he manages to break free before that happens.
- Attacked Nick and Isabela, then tried to murder him using Loaders.
- Aided Hemlock with his goals for world domination, which could have lead to billions of deaths as Hemlock intended to cause outbreaks all over the world to keep it in a state of martial law.
- While her death made her seem very unfortunate, she had no right to ungratefully mistreat Hemlock, especially when he ultimately saved her and her death is treated with no sympathy.
- Although she had standards at the beginning of Dead Rising 3, where she's genuinely disgusted to see zombies rise again, she manages to subvert this after Isabela tells her she will never walk without cure and explains her motives, with Marian showing admiration how Isabela planned to get away.
