Mari is the main antagonist of the fanfiction series Hands based on the indie RPG OMORI. She is an alternate version of Mari who sexually and psychologically abused her brother, Sunny, to the point where he threw her down the stairs in order to get her away.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She tormented her own younger brother Sunny for years, from manipulating him with his fear of spiders and heights, to holding him underwater when he tried to save Basil's life (implying that she tried to drown him), to tormenting him repeatedly by raping him. Since the story makes it clear that there were more times than what was shown on the screen, it means that she abused or tried to abuse Sunny dozens of times.
- Despite sexually abusing Sunny, Mari was dating Hero at the same time, meaning that she was also cheating on Hero and didn't love him either.
- The story makes it clear that she would abuse Basil as well if given the chance with Aubrey saying that, from what Sunny said, she had a growing lust for Basil. The story implies that she was also interested in Aubrey. With her wanting a girls' night alone with her, with Basil, and even Aubrey herself, suggesting that she had an interest in her and with a flashback implying that she was groping her.
- Although she saved Sunny from drowning, it is because she would have lost her "toy."
- She made Sunny do a duet at a show that was originally going to be hers alone just so she could abuse him more during rehearsal.
- When Sunny broke his violin because he couldn't take the pressure of the show and Mari's abuse, she tried to rape him again while trying to convince him that he was a better person when he let people vent their frustrations on him and that abuse was the way for her to vent her stress and that in return to not resist, she would lie that it was an accident. She even slapped him in the face when he begged her not to. This ultimately leads to her deserved death when Sunny pushes her down the stairs to make her stop. To make her even worse, the story makes it clear that she wanted to do something worse than anything she's ever done before as punishment and herself said it would relieve her stress, showing clear sadism.
- She indirectly ruined the friendship between Sunny, Basil, Kel, Hero and Aubrey, because she was responsible for Sunny scratching her pictures in Basil's photo album.
- She tried to abuse Omori in the Main Pier due to his resemblance to Sunny.
- Although she didn't encourage Basil to commit suicide, she stopped Sunny from asking for help, shows that she truly wanted Basil to die. This also makes her indirectly responsible for Sunny getting a damaged eye. Hence, she is the main responsible for Sunny trying to commit suicide and would have done so if not for Omori's help.
- Her death is meant to be played for karma and satisfaction due to all the horrible things she did to her own brother. While Sunny does feel remorse for killing her by pushing her down a set of stairs, this doesn't make it sympathetic because she deserved to have a horrible death. Additionally, he did so because he was only trying to defend himself, showing that she pushed a good gentle soul too far.
- Even years after her death and being disowned by her family, Sunny still suffers from PTSD because of her actions. She has also made Basil lose some of his trust in people in hindsight.
- Although she seems to care about Hero, the third story makes it clear that it was just perversion and although she didn't abuse him or try to do so, it's probably because she was weaker than him.
- She is the complete opposite of her original character, who is a good-natured and friendly person, this version of Mari is a manipulative pervert who has never shown genuine care for anyone but herself. Her love for Sunny is a more perverted obsession than genuine love.

- This version of Mari inspired the fanfics False Heaven and What She Did with an alternate version similar to this one.
- The author of the fanfictions, Scitydreamer, compared the story to Lisa: The First, causing this version of Mari to be compared to Marty Armstrong, who raped his daughter, Lisa, to the point where she committed suicide.
- Ironically, despite Marty's crimes being worse, he is not Pure Evil because Lisa: The Painful confirms that he felt extreme remorse for his actions.
