Meh! Meh! Meh! meh!
~ Margaret's usual unintelligible speech, her catchphrase, and her most famous quote.
Margaret is and will always be a mystery. Nothing happened in her life to justify the way she is. Some people aren't looking for anything logical; they can't be bought, reasoned, or negotiated with. Sometimes, man just wants to watch the world burn.
~ Mr. Robinson on his wife’s behavior.

Margaret Robinson is a supporting antagonist in Cartoon Network's animated sitcom The Amazing World of Gumball.

She is the psychopathic, unempathetic, and sadistic wife of Gaylord Robinson, the mother of Rocky Robinson, and a neighbor of the Wattersons.

Her mumbles are provided by Teresa Gallagher.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • She does not care about her family:
    • She presumably killed her own brother by drowning him into a lake, for no explicit reason other than sadism.
    • While she does seem to show a twisted form of love towards her husband through their constant bickering early on in the show, even once kicking him out when he lost it in him, and happily accepting him back when he regained it, this love seems to go out as the show goes on, as she has stolen his money, cheated on him, and even tried to kill him by sabotaging his car to make it crash.
    • While she has Rocky as her son, there is nothing to suggest that she cares for him and it is implied by Rocky that she was a bad mother to him, as he told to Gumball and Darwin in a sad voice that she often used to scold him.
  • She plants and grows flowers, only to cut them off once they have grown or to use weed killer on them, out of pure sadism.
  • As mentioned by her husband in a quote above, nothing ever happened to her to explain the way she is, as she’s just been evil from the very beginning. This further impliments that Maragaret as a textbook psychopath who has absolutely no reason nor any cause that made her that way and thus meaning that she had always been a horrible person.
  • While it was stated by Gumball that she was literally crafted in the fiery pits of the Underworld, nothing indicates that she's made of evil or cannot distinguish right from wrong, and she was able to even lie to both Gumball and Darwin, about her feeling remorse for her actions in "The Wicked,” just to then frame them for her actions.
  • Despite the high heinous standards of the series, Margaret manages to stand out due to her lower resources compared to other more heinous villains such as: Virus, Gargaroth, Game Child, Mr. Chanax, and Bobert 6B and for her many heinous acts: such as constantly endangering at least dozens of citizens of Elmore, including driving through a shopping center, trying to kill her own husband, presumably drowning her own brother, burning down a school, which implicitly caused deaths, leaving Darwin to choke with a toy car, and many others.
  • Despite having comedic moments, like her speaking only "meh", her twisted relationship with Mr. Robinson, her evil song while dancing joyfully and causing mischief as a recreational activity, and her quite satisfying but comical karma due to how ridiculous it is, they don't detract from her villainy and she is still taken seriously.

Background[]

  • Even in her childhood, it was revealed that she was always evil and committed heinous acts, examples include:
    • Ripping her teddy bear into pieces.
    • Pushing her brother into the lake and presumably killing him.
    • Burning Elmore Junior High down which is implied to have caused multiple deaths.
    • Attempting to kill Santa Claus by setting him on fire.
  • She constanly fought with her husband, Gaylord Robinson, in the early years of their marriage, doing things such as:
    • Sneezing on him, which caused him to fall down, and laughing instead of showing remorse.
    • Painting the walls in their house, and getting Gaylord stuck in the walls due to this.
    • Throwing objects at each other, with her throwing a giant Earth sphere towards him.
    • Sabotaging his car to crash by cutting the wires, which could have resulted in his death.
    • Even when Mr. Robinson visits the hospital to see how she is doing, being genuinely concerned about her well being due to getting sick. Mrs. Robinson pretended to be nice towards him, only to then taze Mr. Robinson, and while both being hospitalized, they continued fighting after that.
    • Fighting while driving their car, knocking out other cars in the process.

The Amazing World of Gumball[]

Season 1[]
  • In "The Debt", she threw Gumball into space by flinging up the hood of the car just because the latter thought Mr. Robinson "saved" his life.
    • While it is understandable that Gumball was being a complete idiot as usual and could've simply moved out of the sidewalk when the Robinsons were about to park, Mrs. Robinson still had no right to throw him into space just because she and Mr. Robinson were annoyed by Gumball's dimwitted behavior.
    • She showed no care about her husband's performance and even left the talent show later in the episode due to being disgusted by his success.
  • In "The Poltergeist", she kicked her husband out of the house because he stopped arguing with her (which is how his relationship with her works) and walked away muttering angrily.
    • While she allowed him back into the house later, it is only because he regained his anger when he scolded Richard, Gumball, and Darwin, not out of love or compassion for him.
  • In "The Car", she and Mr. Robinson destroyed the Wattersons' car after finding out that theirs was destroyed, completely unaware that Nicole and Richard were the only ones who accidentally destroyed their car and thought that Gumball and Darwin were the cause.
    • When the Donut Cop tries to reason with the Robinsons over their blind rage and how they kept forcing him to arrest Gumball and Darwin for the destruction of their car, which the two weren't responsible for, Mrs. Robinson tried to attack the cop, only to be tazed by him. This caused Mr. Robinson to attack the cop, getting tazed as well, and getting arrested at the end of the episode.
Season 3[]
  • In "The Boss", she stole Mr. Robinson's wallet when he got sick and ended up in the hospital.
    • When her husband was sick in the hospital and nearly died due to insufficient stuffing in his body, instead of helping him or at least supporting him, she cheated on him when she was seen hula-dancing with other men on a tropical island, and even planned to marry one of them before her husband woke up from his transfusion.
  • In "The Butterfly", she knocked out Felicity Parham in order to take a twenty dollars bill.
Season 4[]
  • In “The Wicked", it's revealed how wicked she truly is, as in the episode, she constantly went around to cause misery and chaos to anyone around Elmore, out of pure sadism, examples include:
    • Feeding seeds laced with coffee to a few squirrels, causing them to go feral and to attack people in the park, even storing Gary Hedges into a tree and eating out of the Donut Cop, framing Gumball and Darwin for this, which caused them to get punished by the Donut Cop and put to do community cleaning work.
    • Attempting to run over Gumball and Darwin for no reason.
    • Causing chaos and mass destruction around the city such as: hitting Gary Hedges with the door, feeding a butterfly to spider, throwing a bucket full of dirty water on Principlal Brown's car, causing him to believe that it was a nearby worker who did this and started a fight with him, stealing the Goblin's wallet, changing the speed limit from 30 to 800, which caused car accidents, and knocking down Billy's ice cream, even taking his tear and drinking it.
    • When she arrived at Elmore's hospital, believing that something bad has happened, she got mad at Darwin for tricking her in order to come to see babies in order to show that she has a good side and switched the babies's names which caused their parents to fight each other over their babies, due to believing that they were not their babies respectively.
    • Spilling water which caused an assistant to slip and fall down.
    • When Darwin choked on a toy car that she had unknowingly thrown into his mouth, he asked for her help. However, she refused to assist him, smiling maliciously as she closed the door and let him choke. It was only thanks to Gumball that Darwin was saved. This experience made Darwin realize that Gumball was right about her having no good in her, leading him to seek revenge for her actions.
    • After she received some car keys put by Gumball and Darwin in order to arrest her for her crimes, she started driving the car around the mall, endangering dozens of citizens in the process.
    • She faked remorse to Gumball and Darwin in order to give them the mask she was wearing in order to get them arrested, all while she waved sadistically at them, before getting hit by a pole, then her car exploded which resulted in her flying upwards and getting hit by a plane and then she got ran over by an ambulance rightfully so.
  • In "The Night", she fought with Mr. Robinson in a dream and took joy in hurting him in the process.
Season 5[]
  • In "The Slide", she was seen using dating apps, despite being married to Mr. Robinson, when Rocky stumbled upon her profile (which Gumball recognized her since she talked with "meh meh meh meh"). Although, she got karma after Gumball swiped up, literally rejecting her out of the house.
  • In "The Singing", she threw a briefcase in her husband's face.
  • In "The Petals", she creepily stared at Leslie, implied to be planning on spraying him with chemicals because he's a flower.
Season 6[]
  • In "The Understanding", she gave her husband, a lighter in order to burn their marriage certificate. Although Mr. Robinson also wanted to burn it down too.
  • In "The Revolt", she laughed at her husband being attacked by a bed instead of helping him.
The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball[]
  • In "The Pool", she tried to had drown in her and Gaylord's pool, either Gumball, Darwin or Richard by giving them shoes with concrete blocks underneath so they cannot get out of the water in case.

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Robinson's quote about Margaret references Alfred Pennyworth's quote from The Dark Knight with the Joker wanting to see the world burn. Ironically, both of them are Pure Evil.
