I will make that fat f-ck's crimes look like a Boy Scout jamboree!
~ Margaret revealing her murderous nature.
I win. I am the final girl!
~ Margaret Booth.

Margaret Booth is the main antagonist of American Horror Story: 1984 and the real killer of the 1970 Red Wood Camp massacre, for which she framed Benjamin Richter, her former best friend.

Initially, as the current director of Camp Redwood, she was portrayed as an odd fanatic and an innocent survivor of the massacre reportedly committed by Richter, whom the media dubbed "Mr. Jingles." However, in the fourth episode "True Killers" it was revealed that she was behind the massacre and thus the series' major events.

She was portrayed by Leslie Grossman. who also portrayed Ursula Khan in another AHS season, Red Tide.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • She commits the massacre of Redwood Camp and kills her fellow counselors. She then framed Benjamin Richter for her crimes.
  • She left Benjamin to be tortured in a mental hospital, where, after years of being blamed for the crimes he didn't commit, he grew to accept his guilt, and eventually developed his murderous "Mr. Jingles" personality.
  • She disguises her psychopathic personality by playing the role of a religious survivor. Although, in fact, she is a demon worshiper.
  • She mocks Benjamin by revealing that she is behind the murders before she shoots him.
  • She decides to start a killing spree to get fame after she ditched her religious personality.
  • She stabs Trevor trying to kill him even though he came to save her
  • She kills Chet by hitting him and throwing him into the lake despite his pleas. As a ghost, he said his death was very painful
  • She kills Xavier by stabbing him after he rescues her from Benjamin. This angered him so much that he started killing camp visitors as a ghost, making her indirectly responsible for his crimes
  • She stabbed herself and framed Brooke for all the murders she had committed, leading to her execution. And later in the execution process, she mocked her death
  • Over the next five years, Margaret gained wealth and fame through her double "survival". She exploited the sites of various massacres, and other horrific events, as an important place for tourists, they eliminated everything related to religion or God.
  • She is an abusive manager and wife towards Trevor. To be fair, Trevor deserved it since he blackmailed her into marrying him, for her money.
  • She decides to reopen Camp Redwood, a scheme to host a Halloween music festival, with the goal of slaughtering all attendees, so that Camp Redwood becomes another "place of interest" that could result in dozens of musicians being killed in the process.
  • When the Kajagoogoo team is killed by Ramirez, she shows nothing but rage and orders her servant Courtney to dismember and hide their bodies despite the servant's great fear.
  • Shoot the ghost Benjamin the head
  • She kills her assistant Courtney because he disappointed her
  • After Trevor tries to stop her from the murders, she painfully kills him outside the camp so he doesn't come back as a ghost (happily he is rescued by Brooke, who's back for revenge).
  • She allows Ramirez and another killer to kill a journalist
  • After a violent fight, Brooke is nearly killed, but she is stopped by the ghosts of her victims, and Margaret receives a painful death.
  • When she turns into a ghost, she hides for thirty years in the camp only for Benjamin's son to come and tries to kill him for no reason, but is rescued by his grandmother, Lavinia Richter, who hands her over to the rest of the ghosts, ending her reign of terror once and for all.
  • Although Lavinia Richter was the mastermind behind the Redwood massacre as a way to get revenge on her son Benjamin, she eventually showed her deep remorse. Unlike Margaret, who continued her crimes and did not regret it.
  • Also, the story of her being bullied by fellow counselors doesn't justify her actions, as Benjamin was harassed but refused to take revenge. The behavior of the bullies is baffling, as they are disturbed by the murders committed by other ghosts, and Margaret herself is a bully, which makes her a complete hypocrite.
